Take unclear team-level problems, clarify goals, compare options and choose a solution path, working with stakeholders to set requirements, coordinate dependencies and deliver results.
Build, test, ship, maintain and improve applications, services and platforms, using both hand-written code and approved AI-assisted methods.
Use approved AI tools where they fit, check their output, and stay responsible for architecture, quality, security and production readiness.
Decide what testing and verification each area needs, based on complexity, risk and business impact.
Guide colleagues through design reviews, code reviews, knowledge sharing and mentoring, and help set engineering practice.
Diagnose and resolve cross-component and production issues, putting lasting corrective fixes in place.
Apply security, privacy, compliance and data protection requirements across the full lifecycle.
Work with product, design, architecture, operations, security and business colleagues to shape solutions.
Improve performance, scalability, reliability, resiliency and maintainability while lowering operational risk.
Improve engineering processes, delivery speed and team skills through automation, standardization and knowledge sharing.
Weigh customer impact, product strategy, operational effects and business outcomes when making technical decisions.
Stay accountable for everything you approve or release, whether you wrote it or generated it, treating AI output as unverified until reviewed; define acceptance criteria, produce evidence of readiness, and escalate technical risks.
