Senior Software Engineer

Description

The role is Senior Software Engineer, based at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716.

This posting is for a senior engineer who leads projects from discovery through delivery and helps resolve production and business issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned engineering projects by supplying relevant documents, direction and examples, and by mapping out short- and long-term solutions and timelines.
• Review proposed solutions, give feedback, and carry out design and code reviews of changes.
• Investigate business and production issues by collecting details such as the issue, its impact, how critical it is and its likely root cause.
• Bring in support teams when needed, build and carry out an action plan, and read the results to decide the next step.
• Run root cause analysis to stop issues from coming back, and complete online documentation.
• Answer business users' questions and concerns about technical feasibility and implementation, identify short- and long-term fixes, and lead cross-functional work to get them resolved.
• Lead discovery on medium to large projects: review requirements, turn them into technical solutions, and gather design documents, product requirements and wireframes.
• Write and develop code, run unit tests, and fix open issues and bugs.
• Report status and problems to team members and stakeholders, work with the project team and other functions, and help the project manager with the plan.
• Make sure work is delivered on time and handed off cleanly, and lead the project team.

Requirements

• Hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field, plus 2 years of software engineering or related experience; or hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of those fields, plus 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Have hands-on experience designing and building REST APIs with Java and JavaScript.
• Code in an object-oriented language such as Java, Python or R.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, MongoDB, DB2, Neo4J and ClickHouse.
• Design and build responsive web apps using HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and JavaScript.
• Use CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.
• Practise test-driven development and Agile methods.
• Take part in code reviews and architecture design discussions.
• Build for reuse, using frameworks, patterns and configuration tools to speed up development.
• Turn requirements into technical solutions with product management and the business.
• Investigate business and production issues by collecting the issue, impact, criticality and likely root cause, and run root cause analysis to reduce future problems.
• Any amount of experience with these skills is acceptable.

Conditions

Pay is $129,314.00 to 180,000.00 per year.

Performance incentives are paid annually or quarterly on top of base pay.
