The company builds autonomy software that turns heavy machinery such as bulldozers, loaders and excavators into AI-powered fleets that run continuously and safely in harsh conditions.
Its systems are already in production at mines, large infrastructure projects and defense operations, and are hardened to TRL9.
The team includes engineers from mining, construction, and firms such as Waymo, SpaceX, Google and Tesla. Investors include General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, Elad Gil, Human Capital, Ironspring Ventures, Mantis and DCVC.
The UI is where people interact with the autonomy. The main problems are a safety-critical operator interface where a defect can move a 60-ton machine into the wrong spot, a live 3D scene that renders point clouds, terrain, geofences and machine overlays at interactive frame rates, a multi-tenant SaaS portal with relationship-based authorization and internationalization, and teleoperation controls with live video where latency is noticed by the user.
The team debates options, iterates fast, and builds mechanisms that keep quality high as it scales. The interface must work in cabs, control rooms and field offices, not only in an office.
Responsibilities
Design and build the two web applications that keep a person in the loop with the autonomous fleet: the safety-critical operator UI and the multi-tenant portal, along with the shared design system behind both.
Set direction for the design system: component APIs, accessibility, theming, versioning, deprecation and migration tooling.
Own the developer experience for every engineer who builds on the design system, and create patterns that make accessible UI the default.
Build the 3D scene with Three.js, React Three Fiber and Drei, covering point clouds, BVH-accelerated terrain meshes, geofence editing, cut and fill views and machine overlays.
Design state machines with XState, along with validation and observability for safety-critical flows.
Build teleoperation controls, including joysticks and gamepads, and integrate live video streaming with the rigor these interfaces need.
Lead the architecture of multi-tenant authorization, internationalization including right-to-left languages, and real-time data in the portal. Design customer-facing workflows that meet best-in-class B2B standards.
Write clean, testable TypeScript, and drive gains in code quality, accessibility, performance, reliability and observability.
Lead code reviews, design reviews and architecture discussions.
Work with TPMs, design, autonomy, controls, hardware and field operations so the UI works on real machines at customer sites. Partner with field engineers on conditions such as sun glare, gloves and dropped networks, and feed those lessons back into the code.
Lead root-cause analysis to remove recurring defects.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers. Improve CI/CD, local tooling and test frameworks including Vitest, Cypress, Testing Library, vitest-axe and MSW, and help define engineering standards across the organization.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Design or HCI, or equivalent hands-on experience.
5+ years of professional experience building production frontend systems.
Deep expertise in TypeScript and React, including hooks, Suspense and concurrent rendering.
Experience with 3D web graphics such as Three.js, React Three Fiber, Drei, WebGL, shaders, GLTF pipelines, BVH acceleration or point-cloud rendering.
Experience with real-time data and binary serialization, such as Protocol Buffers, gRPC-web, WebSockets or high-frequency telemetry in the browser.
Experience with modern frontend tooling, including Vite, npm, pnpm or yarn workspaces, Storybook and current testing stacks.
Strong debugging skills using browser devtools, logs, telemetry, metrics and tracing.
A record of delivering high-quality software both independently and within cross-functional teams.
You treat correctness, safety and reliability as the first priority while keeping the experience excellent.
You make accessibility and performance continuous concerns, not final checks, and care about the developer experience of engineers using your components.
You are comfortable designing a component library API, debugging a WebSocket pipeline carrying protobuf telemetry, optimizing a Three.js scene with live LiDAR, and designing access-control UX for a multi-tenant portal.
You take ownership of the operator and customer outcomes your code enables.
Preferred: experience working across the full stack when needed.
Preferred: experience with safety-critical or industrial UI in robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical, defense or energy, where a defect has physical consequences.
Preferred: experience using state machines such as XState or statecharts to make UI flows safe, not just as a buzzword.
Preferred: experience with TanStack Router, TanStack Query, Zustand, Tailwind CSS v4, tailwind-variants, Floating UI, Mantine or Visx.
Preferred: experience with multi-tenant SaaS authorization such as ReBAC or ABAC, and with UI patterns that make complex permissions easy to understand.
Preferred: experience with frontend infrastructure such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, micro-frontend architecture, OpenTelemetry or Sentry.
