Description

The Pricing Team builds and deploys quantitative algorithms that produce accurate, low-latency odds for Sportsbook customers.

The team develops microservices covering many sports and products, with an emphasis on modularity, interpretability and reproducibility.

The company is one of Europe's major betting and gaming operators, with a large portfolio of well-known brands and more than 5,000 employees across roughly fifteen regulated markets.

The Group offers a mix of games, some under exclusive rights and some open to competition, and aims to show that entertainment and player safety can coexist.

You would be a senior engineer in the Pricing Engineering team, building, tuning and deploying production-grade services for a sportsbook product, in a culture that values software engineering best practice and product focus.

Your work would centre on hands-on delivery and oversight of live production systems.

The role suits a strong software engineer with solid Java skills or experience in a similar language, an interest in sports betting, and a wish to work on high-impact projects in a friendly, capable team.

Responsibilities

  • Build production-grade solutions to business requirements, applying suitable design patterns.
  • Question and refine business requirements, and propose improvements using your technical and domain knowledge.
  • Build robust APIs and streaming interfaces that give controlled access to the team's statistical models and data products.
  • Promote good practice in testing, observability, CI/CD and automation across the wider team.
  • Review the solutions and code of colleagues, giving constructive criticism.
  • Work with Pricing Engineering managers to plan how workstreams will be delivered.
  • Share your work across the business through global collaboration, discussions, written reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in software engineering, implementing complex requirements in a low-latency microservice architecture.
  • Strong Java skills, or similar languages such as C, and the ability to write high-quality, fast, well-documented code on your own.
  • Proven experience with different architectures and systems, which you can apply to new problems.
  • Ability to write or read technical gap and architecture documents and turn them into a sequence of deliverable work items.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining complex topics to non-specialists.
  • A growth mindset for solving problems, with the ability to pick up new tools and concepts quickly.
  • A friendly, approachable manner and the ability to mentor more junior colleagues.
  • Desirable: a master's degree or higher in a STEM subject.
  • Desirable: experience with incident management best practices.
  • Desirable: experience writing and analysing performance tests.
  • Desirable: experience with automation testing.
  • Desirable: experience writing and deploying software in cloud-native environments.
  • Desirable: experience with sports data, or clear knowledge of and interest in the area, including sports betting.

Conditions

Equal opportunity: the company hires on skills, experience and potential, and assesses every candidate on merit.
