Description

Engineering Experience is the team responsible for developer productivity at the company. It runs services that engineers rely on every day, and it leads the work to improve engineering productivity across the company.

The team is looking for an experienced software engineer who wants to make engineers' work easier. You will build and run tools, help set technical direction, and work closely with other teams so what you build gets used. This is a hands-on role for someone who writes solid production software and is comfortable teaching, advocating for change and leading it.

Responsibilities

  • Own and run the agentic tooling used by engineers across the company, covering security, access to models and tools, telemetry and evaluation.
  • Build an engineering knowledge base served through an MCP server, so engineers and AI agents can find trusted internal context.
  • Lead AI enablement across engineering with hands-on workshops, practical guidance and adoption campaigns that help teams use these tools with confidence.
  • Build and run products that reduce friction across software development, from local setup and code review to deployment and operation.
  • Improve the developer portal and other shared engineering services so tools, guidance and engineering signals are easy to find and act on.
  • Use research, feedback and data to find problems shared by many teams, then build software and changes that save engineers time across the company.

Requirements

  • Be a senior engineer who is comfortable in a polyglot environment. The team's tools and services use Java, Go, Python and TypeScript, and you need expert knowledge of at least one of Java, Go or TypeScript, though not all three.
  • Have strong experience building and running production software, taking services from design through to reliable operation.
  • Show excellent software design judgement: break down complex problems, define clear boundaries and interfaces, and build systems that are testable, maintainable and observable.
  • Have practical experience using agentic tools to deliver real user stories, not just prototypes. You know how to give agents the right context and constraints, review their output and take ownership of the result.
  • Have a genuine interest in AI developer tooling and keep learning as the field changes, including how these tools are built, secured, evaluated and adopted.
  • Have experience building internal platforms or tooling for other engineers, and treat engineers as your users.
  • Have experience leading large technical initiatives across teams and keeping delivery on track when the path is unclear.
  • Be strong at code review and hold a high bar for engineering quality, including clear tests and practical feedback that helps others improve.
  • Be confident explaining technical ideas to different audiences, leading workshops and advocating for change across a large engineering organisation.

Conditions

The tools must work for more than 1,200 engineers, so the team focuses on shared problems and solutions that work across the company rather than one-off wins. Saving every engineer an hour has a large effect.

The team learns from engineers, usage data and how services behave in production, then designs, builds and runs improvements that are secure, reliable and easy to use. Adoption is part of the engineering work, done through workshops, written guidance and large engineering forums.

The company is AI first and uses agentic development tools across the whole software development lifecycle to raise productivity. The tools are not meant to replace people, relationships or teamwork.
