Description

The team builds the risk betting management platform, which processes millions of bets in real time for betting operators worldwide.

The team's services are high-throughput and low-latency, covering risk and liability, odds and offer, ticket validation, and the data layer that feeds them.

The stack includes Java with Spring Boot or Quarkus, Kafka or MSK, gRPC and Protobuf, AWS (EKS, ECS, DynamoDB, Aurora), ArgoCD with GitOps, Terraform, and Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry for observability.

You would ship features to production early, learn a detailed domain, and can grow into owning larger parts of the system.

The company is a sports technology firm working where sports, media and betting meet. More than 1,700 federations, media outlets, betting operators and consumer platforms in 120 countries use its technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test and release backend services and APIs within a larger real-time system, and follow them through to production.
  • Ship work in small, independently deployable slices that get validated as they land.
  • Look after your changes in production, including monitoring, alerting and an occasional on-call rotation, and learn how services behave under real load.
  • Write clean, tested, documented code, review colleagues' code, and record key decisions so the team can build on them.
  • Learn how the interconnected services fit together and gradually take on more decisions yourself.
  • Work with product managers and senior engineers to turn requirements into well-defined, deliverable work.
  • Use AI-assisted, spec-driven and agentic workflows in your daily development.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience with Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate or similar frameworks) or another strong object-oriented language.
  • Solid grasp of computer science fundamentals and of writing clean, testable code.
  • Solid automated testing skills across unit, integration and API levels, using JUnit, Mockito or similar tools.
  • Comfortable with CI/CD and collaborative git workflows.
  • Use AI-assisted, spec-driven development every day, going well beyond autocomplete.
  • Willing to run what you build, including deployment, monitoring and on-call.
  • Nice to have: exposure to AWS, Kafka, Docker or Kubernetes, or relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Nice to have: familiarity with gRPC or Protobuf, REST API design, or event-driven systems.
  • Nice to have: interest in infrastructure as code with Terraform, GitOps, or observability tooling.
  • Nice to have: interest in betting, trading, or other real-time and high-throughput domains.
  • Quick to learn a complex domain and a modern stack.
  • Takes ownership of work and wants to grow into owning features end to end.
  • Communicates well, collaborates, asks questions and gives honest input.
  • Pragmatic, shipping small and often.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with high professional standards.
