Description

The company is publicly traded on the NYSE. It started as a storage vendor and now sells a data platform, and it reported $3.7 billion in revenue for fiscal 2026, including its first quarter above $1 billion. Growth is speeding up going into FY27.

Its market focus covers hyperscalers, AI labs, the AI hardware supply chain, data platform providers, and the wider AI ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • The Hyperscale line of business builds and ships products for hyperscale customers operating at exabyte scale, where speed, reliability, and operations matter most.
  • The Build Environments and Tools team maintains the developer productivity infrastructure that engineers use every day to compile and test code. That covers build orchestration, build systems, and containerized build environments.
  • As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work directly on build orchestration, build system internals, and containerized build environments, including large C/C++ builds. You will work with tech leads and engineers across the Hyperscale organization to make daily developer workflows smoother.
  • Design, build, and maintain build orchestration systems and their tooling.
  • Make builds faster, more reliable, more reproducible, and easier to debug and use, for both local development and CI.
  • Own containerized build environments and keep build images consistent, isolated, and reproducible.
  • Solve large C/C++ build problems, such as trimming unneeded dependencies and choosing between static and dynamic linking.
  • Find and fix build graph correctness bugs, flaky builds, and regressions in incremental builds.
  • Work with tech leads and the engineering manager to set the technical roadmap for build systems and developer tooling.
  • Talk with teams across the Hyperscale line of business and the wider engineering group to learn their pain points, set priorities, and tie tooling work to product delivery.
  • Set and maintain operational practices for build infrastructure, covering observability, incident response, change management, and ongoing improvement.
  • Track build performance, reliability, and developer experience with engineering metrics.
  • Mentor other engineers on the team and help build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and high technical standards.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including work in infrastructure, developer productivity, build systems, or platform engineering.
  • A solid grasp of modern build systems and toolchains, including dependency management, build graph correctness, incremental and reproducible builds, artifact generation, and build isolation.
  • Hands-on work with build systems and toolchains such as Make, CMake, Buck, Bazel, or in-house build orchestration tools.
  • Experience with large C/C++ builds, including dependency pruning, static and dynamic linking tradeoffs, and reproducible containerized builds.
  • Working knowledge of Linux development environments and Docker, and of keeping build images and execution environments consistent in production.
  • Experience with CI pipelines and putting build tooling into continuous integration workflows.
  • Experience using engineering metrics to assess and improve build performance, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across functions with neighboring platform teams.
