Description

The team is hiring a backend software engineer at mid-level to senior level.

You would join a small backend group of 6 to 8 engineers that builds and runs the metadata platform behind the viewing experience for nearly 2 million subscribers across the Nordics.

The team uses AI-assisted development heavily and is putting agentic AI into production, where agents work with live services and workflows rather than demos.

The company has about 15,000 colleagues across the Nordics and Baltics and operates as a telecommunications provider.

Responsibilities

• Help shape how solutions are designed and delivered, from the first design to running in production.
• The platform combines many partial sources into complete, accurate records and handles close to 500,000 events a day, with peaks above 2 million.
• Build and extend the metadata platform, covering ingestion, enrichment, APIs and near real-time distribution.
• Take ownership of solutions from start to finish: define the problem, choose the approach, build, test, deploy and keep improving them in production.
• Take part in technical decisions that weigh delivery speed against reliability, security, cost and maintainability.
• Work on backend services and the AWS setup, including deployment pipelines, runtimes and observability. The team follows a build-it-and-run-it model, backed by teammates and specialist cloud and DevOps colleagues. On-call duty is optional.
• Build agentic AI features for the platform and internal workflows, making them reliable, secure and genuinely useful.
• Use AI-assisted tools throughout your work, check their output with your own engineering judgment, and take responsibility for what you ship.
• The main stack is Kotlin, with some Java, and Spring Boot, with Python for agentic AI work. Infrastructure runs on AWS with Terraform, SQL and NoSQL databases, SNS, SQS and Kinesis. You do not need experience with all of it, but you should be willing to learn outside your current specialty. As you grow on the platform, your scope and influence can expand across backend, cloud and AI.

Requirements

• You like taking work from idea to production, think like an owner, and care how software behaves once deployed, including infrastructure, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Solid experience building and maintaining production backend systems, ideally in Kotlin or Java.
• A good grasp of APIs, databases, distributed systems, testing and secure development, and the judgment to choose a simple solution when one fits.
• Hands-on, critical use of AI-assisted development, and interest in connecting AI capabilities to real production systems.
• Fluent English, clear communication, and a collaborative style when discussing trade-offs, solving problems and sharing knowledge.
• Experience with AWS, event-driven architectures and infrastructure as code is a plus.
• Experience with LLMs, agents or AI-enabled systems is a plus.
• You do not have to be an AI specialist or meet every item. The team values your engineering foundation, sound judgment and follow-through more than an exact match on technologies.
