Description

The company is an infrastructure consultancy that plans, designs, engineers and manages projects across transportation, buildings, water, new energy and the environment, for public and private clients.

The company reports $16.1 billion in revenue for its Professional Services business in fiscal year 2025, and has over 50,000 staff worldwide. It is a Fortune 500 firm.

This is a consultancy role for a fire engineer who will work with office leads to oversee and grow a local team, giving guidance and mentoring with senior staff backing. You should have solid professional experience and be ready to take on more.

It suits an established consultant looking to move their career forward, or someone who wants to build their knowledge and design skills at a well-known fire safety consultancy.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out analytical fire engineering work, including CFD modelling and evacuation modelling, from start to finish with little senior oversight.
  • Manage design projects, and prepare and review other people's work.
  • Build fire engineering methods for new problems by adapting standard procedures or approaches used on earlier assignments.
  • Take part in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Help produce accurate cost estimates for the technical work on projects.
  • Apply your experience across a range of sectors and fire engineering applications, with a focus on UK regulations and markets.

Requirements

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification.
  • Experience in a similar consultancy or another relevant business.
  • A track record of technical fire engineering work across several sectors, with a particular focus on UK regulations and markets.
  • Experience running the fire engineering side of small to medium design projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Experience guiding entry level fire engineers.
  • Experience writing fee proposals and task variations for fire engineering work.

Conditions

Hybrid working is offered, so you can split your time between an office, remote working and client sites.

All new hires must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at a company office as a condition of employment.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and is a Disability Confident employer, offering interviews to disabled applicants or those with long-term conditions who meet the minimum criteria.

Benefits

  • Core and personalised benefits covering your future and well-being, tailored to your lifestyle.
  • Career development opportunities.
  • Access to technical practice networks and the company's in-house university.
  • Volunteering days.
  • Flexible hybrid working to support a healthy work-life balance.
