The role offers end-to-end ownership, from early platform concepts to customer deployments and production fleets. You will work on hard problems where hardware, operating systems, networking, storage and distributed systems meet, and shape platform specifications and engineering decisions across hardware and software teams.

Responsibilities

• You will be part of the front-end fabrics group, helping design the next generation of enterprise hardware platforms and software-defined data-center infrastructure. Your work spans hardware, operating systems, storage, networking and distributed systems, and affects how customers deploy, run and grow their environments.
• You will own work across the full platform lifecycle, from first hardware bring-up and system validation through manufacturing release, customer rollout, upgrades and fleet reliability. You will work with hardware engineers, architects, OS developers and customers to turn demanding platform needs into sturdy, supportable products.
• Shape architecture and design requirements for new hardware platforms so they perform better, scale further and run more efficiently across a fleet, from bring-up through release, deployment, upgrades and operations.
• Design, build, debug and ship user-space software in C and C++ for storage protocols, networking and data-center architectures.
• Build and extend remote server management using industry standards such as Redfish.
• Design and improve reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features so platforms are easier to operate, diagnose, recover and maintain at scale.
• Write and maintain software components and engineering tools in C, C++, Python, Go and Rust.
• Work hands-on with hardware during bring-up, system-level debugging, validation, customer delivery and production support.
• Work with hardware engineers, system architects and operating-system developers to define specifications, review designs and integrate hardware and software smoothly.
• Work with customers and technology partners to pin down requirements, resolve complex issues and see solutions through to delivery.
• Lead technical initiatives and steer project direction across several engineering teams.
• Improve engineering practices, automation, observability and operational readiness across the platform lifecycle.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong C and C++ skills, including object-oriented design and modern standards (C++11 or later).
• Strong Python skills for build and test automation, lab tooling, diagnostics and system validation.
• Experience with Go and/or Rust is a plus.
• Strong interest in storage and networking protocols, data-center hardware and distributed systems.
• A drive to dig deeply into problems that span hardware and software.
• Experience leading teams, technical initiatives or projects across organizational boundaries.
• Hands-on experience with hardware platforms, including requirements feedback, bring-up, system-level debugging, customer delivery and production support.
• Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
• Experience shipping or supporting enterprise-class, x86-based appliances.
• Experience with storage or networking technologies such as NVMe, Ethernet-based fabrics or related data-center architectures.
• Experience designing for reliability, availability, serviceability, observability and non-disruptive upgrades.
• Experience with distributed systems and managing complexity across large-scale deployments.
• Experience building automated test infrastructure, hardware labs or fleet-scale diagnostics.

Conditions

The role is on-site.

The annual base salary range is $175,000 - $317,000 USD.

Salary ranges depend on role, level and location. Where a role is open in several locations, the range reflects the labor market across those locations.

This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
