Description

The CDMA Product Area builds the technology platforms that support clinical trial operations and evidence generation across Diagnostics R&D.

The team runs the core clinical trial systems, including CTMS and Veeva eTMF, and is merging them into one integrated platform that is ready for AI.

The aim is to shorten diagnostic approval timelines and help deliver the CDMA 2030 goal of trials that run 15% faster and at lower cost.

This IT Software Engineer role combines architecture work with hands-on coding for the clinical product portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain the solution architecture for the clinical portfolio so that systems stay scalable, reliable and secure.
  • Assess how SaaS vendors such as Veeva eTMF and CTMS affect the technical lifecycle, covering releases, technical debt reduction, and GIS and security compliance.
  • Evaluate and adopt modern tools, frameworks and AI-assisted workflows that speed up development and improve clinical operations.
  • Set and enforce engineering standards across the product lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, system monitoring and thorough code reviews.
  • Spend a large share of your time coding, building complex API integrations and tackling the hardest technical problems.
  • Pick the right toolsets for the product team and turn business requirements into technical tasks using Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Lean Programming (LEAP) to remove waste and speed up delivery.
  • Identify and reduce technical and architectural risks early, and define and track software quality metrics that protect data integrity and performance in every clinical environment.
  • Act as the main technical contact for stakeholders across R&D and CDMA.
  • Work with the Head of Product to turn the Digital Endgame strategy into technical roadmaps.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering, solution architecture and systems integration.
  • Proven experience managing the technical lifecycle of enterprise SaaS platforms.
  • Highly preferred: experience with clinical systems such as CTMS or Veeva eTMF.
  • Deep expertise in setting up and running CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong ability to design, build, deploy and maintain complex API integrations and data pipelines that fit business needs.
  • Strong interest in or proven experience applying AI/ML or GenAI tools to enterprise workflows.
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity and of secure software development practices.
  • Ability to find and resolve complex technical debt, performance bottlenecks and architectural problems.
  • Solid grasp of software quality management and performance metrics that keep data accurate.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Lean Programming (LEAP), with a talent for removing technical waste, improving value delivery and splitting complex architecture goals into sprint-sized work.
  • Ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders in Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, bridging technology and science.
