The company sells object storage and computer backup products. It was founded in 2007 and grew on less than $3 million of outside funding until a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq in 2021.
Today the company brings in over $100m in revenue and stores more than three billion gigabytes for 500K+ customers in 175+ countries, including businesses, developers, IT professionals and individuals.
This role works on the data infrastructure platform behind those products, the base that every service runs on. The focus is automation, observability and stability for durability, higher throughput, and architecture changes that support the service's long-term needs.
Responsibilities
Build automation frameworks so other engineers can provision, configure and repair fleet infrastructure on their own.
Extend the observability stack covering metrics, logs, traces and alerts, so the team can see whether storage is healthy and where it is slipping.
Create reports, dashboards and visuals that show engineering and leadership fleet health, capacity and operational trends.
Build tooling that flags failing hardware, configuration drift and capacity risk before they become incidents.
Lead design discussions and write clear design documents for changes that span several services and teams.
Carry large features from design through rollout, including the migration and backfill work real systems need.
Work with the on-call rotation to turn repeated toil and incident findings into automation and clearer signals.

7+ years of backend development in an enterprise setting, using an object-oriented or systems language such as Java, Rust, C++, C or Go.
Experience designing automation frameworks or platforms that other engineers build on.
Experience building large software systems that run on thousands of servers.
Experience building automation or tooling that engineers rely on daily, such as internal platform services, operational tooling, or a deployment and configuration pipeline.
Working knowledge of an observability stack such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK, Datadog or similar, including instrumenting a service and designing alerts people trust.
Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working on bare-metal or hybrid environments rather than fully managed cloud.
Professional use of AI-assisted development tools such as Gemini, Cursor or Claude Code.
Hands-on experience with the full software lifecycle: design, implementation, testing and rollout.
Curiosity that leads you to understand a problem before proposing a solution.
Communicates proactively in a remote environment by keeping the team informed, raising blockers early and keeping work moving.
Analytical approach to ambiguous problems.
