Senior Software Engineer - Carrier Platform (All Genders)

Description

The role is a senior software engineering position on the carrier platform, which runs delivery and returns products, including tracking, for the company.

You will keep improving the delivery and returns offer so that the right package reaches the right customer at the right time across the last mile.

The focus is a high-performance, stable system that scales automatically, with a direct effect on how satisfied customers are.

The team sits within the company's Senior Engineering Community, where senior individual contributors set engineering standards and steer technology choices through the company's Tech Radar.

Responsibilities

• Build highly scalable solutions for use by the Operations team and external users such as carriers and freight forwarders.
• Define the architecture and lead the project, overseeing teams of experienced engineers and product managers.
• Coordinate work between internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Oversee development and API design for an integrated system, taking part in design, decision and planning work so that continuous integration, code quality, code reviews and test coverage stay at a very high standard.
• Join a team focused on top standards for code quality and production environments, and bring in current trends in software design, architecture and web services.
• Work with other senior individual contributors to set engineering standards and guide technology decisions.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Docker, AWS, Postgres, REST API design and event systems such as Kafka.
• Experience across the full development cycle in an agile setting, including manual and automated testing and deployment to CI/CD systems.
• A sense of ownership and analytical thinking, with excellent communication skills. Fluent written and spoken English is a must.
• Willingness to share knowledge within and outside the team.

Conditions

27 days of holiday a year to start for full-time employees, rising by 1 day for each calendar year up to 30 days.
