Senior Scientific Data Engineer / Data Analyst

Description

Your work sits between IT and the laboratories at a company that develops medicines and vaccines.

Scientists use the data you prepare to design new chemotherapies and other medicines that save lives worldwide.

You will help build dependable data foundations, load data into the company's data lake, and work with newer technologies on real research with a clear purpose.

Responsibilities

• Build, run and maintain pipelines that process experimental, chemical and biological data.
• Bring scientific data into the data lake from several sources and prepare it for analysis.
• Prepare datasets for the AI and machine learning models scientists use in chemical design and research.
• Connect data to LiveDesign, DataGrok and Spotfire so researchers can use it every day.
• Work with scientific and technology colleagues to turn research questions into working data solutions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on work on the Databricks platform, which the team relies on for its data workflows.
• At least 5 years using SQL and Python for data modelling, scripting, coding and ETL transformations.
• Understanding of AI and ML principles and the ability to prepare data for deploying those models.
• Experience with LiveDesign, DataGrok and Spotfire, ideally alongside a chemical, biological or pharmaceutical research background.
• Required skills listed for the role: data access, data analysis, data engineering, data modelling, data quality improvement, data science, data services, data visualisation, predictive modelling, Python, reproducible research, software development life cycle (SDLC), system design, TIBCO Spotfire and workflow analysis.
