Description

The role is an associate-level data architect position in the company's GDMS data integration and automation group. You will help build, connect and maintain clinical databases and clinical operational systems, and set up clinical study systems, transformations, integrations, edit checks, reports and user testing in line with standards and study documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, build, test and maintain solutions for clinical technology systems such as EDC (Electronic Data Capture), RTSM (Randomization & Trial Supply Management) and eCOA/ePRO (electronic Clinical Outcome Assessment/electronic Patient-Reported Outcome), using programming frameworks and automation tools under guidance from senior team members.
  • Implement and validate data logic, including edit checks, derivations and dynamic rules, using scripting and validation frameworks.
  • Support building and validating extra tools that speed up design, build and validation work.
  • Use data literacy to transform collected data into insights.
  • Help build and maintain reporting solutions such as dashboards, listings and visualizations with approved tools.
  • Help configure, test and validate data sources for integrations and transformations across systems.
  • Carry out routine troubleshooting, debugging and support to resolve data ingestion and consumption problems; escalate non-standard issues to senior colleagues.
  • Create data models and queries, and optimize data extracts and views for reporting, keeping performance, quality and version consistency in check.
  • Validate system functionality and follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and regulations, keeping records of changes and incidents for audits and inspection readiness.
  • Contribute to process improvements, meetings and special projects.
  • Run unit and integration tests on what you build, document test cases and defects, fix issues and prepare releases under change control.
  • Work with GDMS (Global Data Management & Standards) and other cross-functional stakeholders to confirm requirements, support UAT (User Acceptance Testing), prepare for sign-off, set priorities and close feedback loops.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python, SQL, SAS or R.
  • Familiarity with data collection, integration, transformation, reporting and visualization.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools for data ingestion, cleaning and report generation.
  • Ability to build simple dashboards and reports with approved tools, including queries, basic data models and visuals.
  • Basic testing skills for reporting assets: writing test cases, recording results, logging defects and preparing release evidence.
  • Basic understanding of the System Development Lifecycle and validation practices, including change control, release checklists and traceability from requirements to test evidence.
  • Working knowledge of GCP (Good Clinical Practice), data integrity and audit-ready documentation, and familiarity with UAT and sign-off processes, following established procedures.
  • Exposure to report performance tuning (query tuning, filters and parameters) and data quality controls for reporting and analytics.
  • Ability to link business outcomes to technical deliverables.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and keep documentation clean using set templates.
  • Clear, timely updates, concise notes and status reports, and willingness to ask clarifying questions.
  • Ability to build good working relationships across functions and to accept feedback.
  • Basic structured thinking for straightforward issues, with escalation of harder problems to senior team members.
  • Eagerness to learn new processes and technologies.
  • Strong attention to detail, adherence to SOPs and respect for data privacy and compliance rules.
  • Reliable execution of routine, structured work; promptness, accuracy and compliance, with initiative beyond what is required.
  • Commitment to self-development, openness to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Respect for diverse perspectives and good team citizenship.
  • Either a non-degree qualification with at least 2 years of experience in clinical data programming, data engineering or related data-management or clinical operations work, or an associate's degree with at least 1 year of that experience (the minimum preferred option).
  • A bachelor's degree with prior experience of that kind is preferred, as is a master's or doctorate with prior experience of that kind.
