Description

The company is a pharmaceutical business that puts patients first and works to meet unmet medical needs worldwide. It rewards people who act quickly, lead with confidence, collaborate, and are curious about what science can do.

The Medical Data Team supports an industry-leading Medical team that produces and communicates medical evidence to change medical practice. The medical data foundation (MDF) makes AI-ready data available to the Medical business.

The Associate Director, MDF (ADMDF) will improve how the company captures, organizes and uses data to produce insights and raise business performance. You will work with IT to set up sound data governance and build a strategy for using data to understand the business better. You will work with analytics teams, Medical stakeholders, external vendors and IT to keep data assets governed so analytics run smoothly, business value grows and existing technology platforms are used to their full potential. You will own data product management, self-service analytics and metrics governance.

The role involves frequent, open communication with partners at all levels to set direction and a data strategy. You will work with other Data Offices on AI enablement and on broader, enterprise-aligned insights. You will work both independently and within matrixed teams, leading and defining collaborative data governance.

You will map information flows across many systems, decide which future solutions are right, and influence Medical stakeholders and Global IT to define solutions and deliver them in line with standards.

The role needs strong data management skills, healthcare industry knowledge, solid project management, and the ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships.

  • Monitor data quality to protect global data integrity and reporting consistency, and raise issues with the right teams or people
  • Oversee data accuracy processes and goals, assess them, and explain data models to development team members so the data structures are implemented and used correctly
  • Query data sets to confirm business rules and requirements, and resolve data conflicts between and within systems
  • Support the overall data architecture, and develop, prioritize and recommend initiatives and solutions that improve it and extend it for the business
  • Work with IT across the data life cycle, including modelling for Data Hub, Data Warehouse, Data Mart and Analytic Platform projects, in line with the target data architecture
  • Keep data processes and usage consistent, and champion data management best practices
  • Work with vendors and stakeholders at many seniority levels across functions
  • Advance data management best practice, and work closely with IT and Privacy teams to apply the strictest governance standards for protection and security across data management and reporting
  • Understand new data privacy and data management guidelines, and lead the actions needed to implement them
