Description

The company's US Oncology business is growing and is preparing for a possible U.S. launch of an mRNA-based individualized neoantigen therapy for early-stage melanoma. The product is being developed through an alliance partnership and will need a tightly coordinated operating model so patients receive treatment smoothly across a complex care setting.

This Associate Director role reports to the Director of Patient Strategy. You will build patient and caregiver engagement, openness, and shared decision making from first consideration through to starting treatment. The work includes improving the handoff into patient support programs, bringing the real patient perspective into marketing, improving adherence, and preparing early patient journey insights for future pipeline indications. The team wants someone who cares about patient-centred marketing, uses data to shape strategy, can work through uncertainty, influences across many stakeholder groups, and links patient needs to business goals in a matrixed setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design, launch, and refine cross-functional adherence and persistence strategies, aligning customer segments and partners, and act as the main owner of adherence.
  • Improve the patient experience and adherence by refining the customer experience framework, reducing treatment drop-off, and setting clear expectations early.
  • Build strategies that move patients from consideration to starting treatment in the office, including shared decision-making tools, point-of-care education, and support for engagement between healthcare providers and patients.
  • Make sure patients move smoothly into patient support program enrolment, and supply insights and education design that keep patients confident from treatment start to completion.
  • Lead the branded web ecosystem, patient touchpoints, and patient-first digital engagement, with a clear, empathetic, and easy-to-understand digital experience that uses behavioural insight to give patients, families, and caregivers timely, useful guidance at each stage.
  • Define how patients experience and engage with the brand, making sure real patient voices help educate others.
  • Use patient advocacy insight, where permitted, to inform commercial messaging, campaign relevance, and resource design. Track emerging trends, unmet needs, and advocacy developments in melanoma.
  • Work with the global communications lead to align brand strategy and activities with media opportunities and milestones. Lead social listening on consumer brand channels to track patient sentiment, emotional burden, and unmet community needs.
  • Work with the global team to map the patient journey, identify unmet needs, and build launch readiness frameworks for upcoming pipeline indications.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of consumer or patient marketing or patient engagement experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or an agency.
  • A proven record of building and running consumer campaigns, digital and social strategies, direct-to-consumer channels, and omnichannel patient experiences.
  • A growth mindset, strong collaboration skills, and business agility.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, analytical, written and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority and to work across complex, matrixed organisations and with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to plan, set priorities, execute, and anticipate challenges.
  • Experience with measurement and ROI frameworks, and with data-driven optimisation. You have shown cross-functional leadership and influence with senior stakeholders in a matrixed organisation.
  • Strong legal and compliance awareness, with experience working within regulatory limits.
  • Deep empathy and a commitment to improving patient and caregiver experiences through difficult diagnosis and treatment.
  • Preferred: experience commercialising complex therapies, including high-touch specialty products such as bispecific antibodies, cell and gene therapies, or radioligand therapies. This is strongly preferred.
  • Education: a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) and an MBA are required. An advanced degree (MBA) is preferred.
  • Required skills: advanced therapy medicinal products, engagement strategies, market research, oncology marketing, patient adherence, patient engagement, strategic thinking, and strategy development.
