Senior Regulatory Data Developer

Description

This hands-on senior technical role sits in the Regulatory Data team, part of Data Engineering, which supports round-the-clock global operations.

The team builds and runs batch and near real-time pipelines that turn complex operational data into accurate regulatory reporting outputs.

You will lead the move of legacy SQL Server systems onto Google Cloud Platform, design BigQuery and Dataform pipelines, coach engineers, and use AI-assisted development tools across the reporting estate.

Its In-Play betting covers more than 1.38 million events a year, with over 750 concurrent fixtures at peak and 750,000 live sports streams, the most in Europe.

The platform handles over 6 million HTTP requests daily and processes more than 1.5 million bets per hour at peak.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory data projects and major workstreams from planning through to live delivery.
• Design, build and maintain reliable reporting systems across SQL Server and Google Cloud Platform.
• Build resilient ETL and ELT pipelines covering ingestion, transformation and validation.
• Modernise legacy SQL Server reporting into scalable, cloud-native GCP architectures.
• Set up data quality checks, reconciliation controls, monitoring and operational safeguards.
• Apply engineering standards including version control, automated testing, CI/CD and documentation.
• Review the regulatory data estate to reduce technical debt, remove duplication and simplify architectures.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews and constructive feedback.
• Align delivery plans with Team Leads, Technical Leads and Product stakeholders.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve the quality, efficiency and consistency of engineering work.

Requirements

• Solid working knowledge of Google BigQuery and Dataform, including data modelling and query optimisation.
• Advanced SQL skills, covering complex queries, stored procedures and performance tuning.
• Hands-on history designing, building and supporting ETL or ELT pipelines.
• Practical knowledge of GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and Cloud Composer.
• Experience modernising or supporting SQL Server reporting solutions.
• Working familiarity with AI-assisted coding assistants such as Claude Code or similar tools.
• Skill in orchestrating scheduled and dependency-driven data workloads.
• Sound understanding of CI/CD, testing, code review and observability.
• Experience leading technical designs, data models and delivery planning on major workstreams.
• A direct, critical approach to assessing existing systems and driving lasting improvements.
