Description

The role is remote, and you can be based anywhere in North America.

You will lead a team of engineers and other professionals who design, build and run complex water treatment projects within the Industrial Market portfolio, and you answer for the success of those projects overall.

You will work alongside the Lead Engineer and the Sourcing Project Leader to run each project from contract signature through process and equipment design, vendor selection, fabrication, shipment, installation and startup. You keep quality and safety at the center of the work while the team meets commitments within scope, schedule and budget. You report status, budget and schedule progress, and you set and manage expectations with clients and vendors.

The company designs and builds water treatment systems for industrial customers and is part of a global environmental services group.

Responsibilities

  • Take a water treatment equipment project from start to finish.
  • Set out how the contract will be carried out and define clear project goals.
  • Build and keep up realistic plans covering scope, budget, schedule and major milestones.
  • Organize the team so each person knows the priorities, the project structure and their own role.
  • Work with clients, suppliers and internal groups to meet contract and technical requirements.
  • Raise issues quickly when they could materially affect cost, schedule, scope or quality.
  • Track progress through regular reviews and internal reports, and adjust plans when needed.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Manage project changes and support claims handling where needed.
  • Take an active part in technical meetings and project reviews.
  • Work with technical experts and discipline engineers to solve problems and settle key technical questions.
  • Maintain action plans, close actions on time and keep work aligned with project objectives.
  • Plan, organize and manage your time very precisely.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, and present well.
  • Work well in a team and use sound judgment when conditions are unclear or shifting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics or a closely equivalent field.
  • Ten years of experience managing projects that include equipment supply and construction.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or the ability to obtain it within one year.
  • Experience managing engineering and procurement contracts is preferred.
  • Experience in industrial process system design or construction, especially water treatment in the chemical, oil and gas, or power markets, is preferred.
  • You bring an engineering foundation and a working knowledge of water treatment design and operation.
  • You approach problems analytically and with rigor, and you communicate well with varied audiences, including senior and executive leaders at the company and in client organizations.
  • You direct experts, coach team members as needed and keep the project on track.
  • You run project team meetings effectively and resolve team conflicts when needed.
  • You handle several shifting demands with professionalism and good judgment, and you work well in a networked role with many stakeholders.

Conditions

The role involves domestic and international travel 5-20% of the time.

Compensation is tied to market rates for comparable roles and is a guide, not a fixed range. Offers depend on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and internal peer equity, and may fall below or above the range of $100,000 - $130,000 CAD.
