Description

The role is a Senior Project Engineer post in the company's EASA Modifications integrated project team, part of its global services unit, based in Hamburg or Munich, Germany.

You will join the connectivity team, which designs, certifies and integrates antenna systems that provide high-speed onboard wi-fi.

You will work day to day with engineering and programme management teams in several time zones.

The team leads modification programmes with a focus on safety, quality and technical depth, using new ideas and proven practice to meet or beat customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Run engineering work day to day across all disciplines for aircraft connectivity projects.
  • Combine the task plans from each discipline into one project engineering plan, keeping the disciplines aligned and the sequence logical.
  • Serve as the main engineering contact for programme management, functional engineering, the Office of Airworthiness, suppliers and customers when needed.
  • Work with customers, outside vendors, maintenance organisations, regulators and internal teams to deliver engineering solutions on time and within budget.
  • Give independent advice so that solutions across all modification projects are safe, compliant and practical.
  • Identify, assess and manage project-level engineering risks, issues and opportunities, drawing on input from the discipline leads.
  • Prepare for and support key engineering gates and reviews, including ITCM, PDR, CDR and equivalent lifecycle milestones, and make sure each discipline is ready.
  • Track engineering progress against the plan and report on technical health, risks and the support needed.
  • Own the on-time delivery of engineering tasks that support project milestones and gates.
  • Travel within the country or abroad now and then, when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, or a non-US equivalent directly related to the work.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the aviation or aerospace industry or a related field.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.
  • Preferred: experience as the engineering point of contact for several business functions and external stakeholders.
  • Preferred: strong working knowledge of the engineering activities involved in modifying commercial aircraft.
  • Preferred: experience managing and coordinating engineering project tasks, with enough technical understanding of commercial aircraft modifications to see how delays affect other work.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of EASA regulations and airworthiness requirements, including (E)TSO, CS-25, CFR Part 25 and Part 21J design organisations.
  • Preferred: ability to handle several programmes with differing requirements efficiently and effectively.

Conditions

Hybrid role: some work is done onsite at the listed location, at the hiring team's discretion, and this may change in future.

The position is locally hired in Hamburg or Munich, and pay and benefits are set locally rather than through US payroll.

Successful candidates must pass the company's conflict of interest assessment.

Language requirements do not apply to this role.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

No security clearance is required.

The employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

The position is not contingent upon program award.

This is not a shift role (Germany).

Benefits

  • 32 vacation days plus paid time off for life events.
  • Monthly meal allowance of €115 and a €50 monthly transport credit usable on Deutschland-Ticket, public transport, e-scooters, bikes, taxis, ride-hailing, fuel and charging, and bike leasing.
  • A pension plan with flexible contribution options.
  • Life insurance at 2x annual salary and total occupational disability cover at 1x.
  • Sick-leave salary gap insurance that bridges the difference between social security benefits and your pay.
  • Business-trip insurance with International SOS assistance and medical cover while abroad.
  • Learning Together funding for degrees, MBAs and certifications.
  • Employee assistance and wellbeing programmes for physical and mental health support.
  • Full list of German benefits is on the company website, as these change to match local market requirements.
