Description

This role sits between privacy compliance and engineering. You would design, build and run the tooling, automation and data infrastructure behind the company's privacy program, which covers the UK and EU, the US, APAC and other regions.

You would work with engineering and product teams to put privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default into practice, and you would own the technical link between privacy management platforms, work-tracking tools, and the company's data and cloud systems. The job is hands-on and needs strong engineering skills plus a working grasp of global privacy regulation.

The company builds trusted content and technology for professionals in legal, tax, accounting, compliance, government and media, and runs a news business. It has about 26,000 employees in more than 70 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automation for privacy operations, covering data subject request handling, data discovery, data mapping and triggering privacy assessments.
  • Create and run API and Power Automate integrations between privacy platforms such as OneTrust and internal systems like ticketing tools, identity services and data stores. Cover field mapping, assignment rules, two-way status sync, and error handling with logging so systems stay aligned.
  • Write risk-based conditional logic that starts privacy impact, data protection and transfer assessments from intake or procurement systems. Include escalation for high-risk cases and audit trails for the trigger rules themselves.
  • Build automated redaction and exception-flagging pipelines for data subject requests using keyword, pattern and machine learning methods. Make sure a person reviews every output before release, and keep an audit log of redaction decisions.
  • Build an event-driven data flow inventory and mapping pipeline linked to system and vendor intake and procurement, replacing periodic manual surveys.
  • Integrate discovery and classification tools, such as OneTrust Data Discovery, BigID, Collibra, AWS Macie, Azure Purview and database crawlers, so classifications and data flows feed records of processing activities automatically.
  • Create drift detection that reconciles those records against discovery and mapping outputs, and track measures such as the share of records reviewed within a set period.
  • Provide the technical input for privacy impact assessments, including data flow diagrams and system and architecture reviews.

Conditions

The role follows a hybrid model for office-based positions.

For Ontario, Canada, the base pay range is $79,000 CAD to $129,000 CAD. Where a person falls in that range depends on their knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity. Base pay is one part of a wider total reward package.

Recruitment uses AI to compare your application with the role requirements, and a person reviews the result. You can opt out of this. A human always makes the final decision on whether you are considered.

The company complies with local laws requiring pay ranges to be disclosed upfront, and the range varies by location. It hires regardless of race, colour, sex or gender (including pregnancy), gender identity or expression, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital or citizen status, veteran status, or any other protected status, and it is a drug-free workplace. Reasonable accommodations are available for disability and sincerely held religious beliefs.

Benefits

  • Flexible vacation and two company-wide Mental Health Days off.
  • Access to the Headspace app, plus resources for mental, physical and financial wellbeing.
  • Flex My Way policies for personal and family responsibilities, and work from anywhere for up to 8 weeks per year.
  • Retirement savings, tuition reimbursement and employee incentive programs.
  • Grow My Way learning programs and a skills-first approach to development.
  • Two paid volunteer days each year through the Social Impact Institute, with options for pro-bono consulting and ESG initiatives.
  • Possible annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
