Description

The company is a nuclear technology firm in Bellevue, Washington, working to lift living standards worldwide through lower-cost, safer, cleaner nuclear power and medical isotope work. Founded in 2006 by Bill Gates and others who saw private-sector energy access as a priority, it works on nuclear energy, hybrid energy and medical applications.

This full-time role supports digital solutions integration for EPC delivery on the company's Natrium team and is a Senior Project Engineer position.

The role takes over day-to-day project management and interface coordination that technical leads currently handle part-time, so those leads can focus on engineering. It is mainly a project management and coordination position. Some hands-on tool work may happen, but it is not the focus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate end-to-end delivery of the 3D plant model, CAE tools and centralized data environment, aligning scope, schedule and dependencies across workstreams, and coordinate how these systems integrate with EDMS/CMIS and new suppliers.
  • Build and keep current the integrated digital delivery plan, covering milestones, deliverables, resourcing, risks and issues.
  • Report status regularly and raise risks and decisions with engineering and project leadership.
  • Act as the single point of contact for project management and interface work across engineering, IT and external partners, setting schedules, tracking deliverables and resolving cross-team dependencies.
  • Coordinate 3D plant model delivery across disciplines, making sure model content, release milestones and data needs are met.
  • Work with technical leads and system administrators to schedule and track software upgrades, configuration changes and environment readiness.
  • Plan, coordinate and track the rollout of the centralized BIM data environment, including data structure, ownership, access and exchange requirements.
  • Drive the definition and tracking of data governance, naming and metadata standards with engineering, document control and configuration management.
  • Coordinate data migration, validation and ongoing synchronization between source systems and the central environment.
  • Run recurring coordination meetings, drive actions to closure and communicate priorities and dependencies clearly.
  • Manage scope changes, budget inputs, and purchasing or contract support for digital solutions and supplier tools.
  • Work with the team that owns the CAE tools and central data environment to turn priorities into schedules, clear blockers and keep stakeholders informed. Tool support is secondary to the project management work.
  • Make sure digital deliverables and processes meet nuclear quality assurance requirements, including ASME NQA-1.
  • Document system configurations, data releases and changes in line with CMIS processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading or managing multi-party technical projects. Experience in an EPC or AE environment is preferred.
  • Experience managing or supporting 3D plant design models and their engineering data. Experience with Intergraph Smart 3D is preferred, as are similar tools such as AVEVA E3D or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Experience implementing or supporting a centralized or common data environment across several systems and organizations.
  • Experience coordinating technical interfaces with external partners and suppliers, defining deliverables and tracking their performance.
  • Experience in software quality assurance.
  • Working knowledge of CAE tools and how they integrate with plant design, PLM, BIM and other enterprise systems. Hands-on tool experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong project management skills in scheduling, risk management and status reporting. PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Understanding of data exchange concepts such as APIs, data mapping and metadata management.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality standards or other applicable standards, such as ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR Part 50 and ISO 19443.
  • Past systems engineering experience preferred.
  • Strong ownership and follow-through, and the ability to drive progress across teams without direct authority.
  • Clear written and verbal communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external organizations.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors, such as aerospace, pharmaceutical or defense.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools, procurement software or digital twin platforms.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles for data systems in critical infrastructure.
