Senior Product Analyst Operations Research (m/f/d)

Description

You will set the success criteria for the company's ML products before they are built. The role sits in Operations Research in Pullach near Munich. You will design evaluation methods for hard problems, work alongside Product Owners and Data Science teams to test ideas quickly, and build tools and standards that keep data-driven choices well founded.

The company is a leading mobility service provider with revenue of €4.3 billion and about 9,000 employees worldwide. Its mobility platform brings together car rental, car sharing, taxi and chauffeur rides, and car subscription, with a fleet of 360,000 vehicles, services from 4,000 cooperation partners, and around 5 million drivers. Together with franchise partners it operates in more than 100 countries across 2,000 rental stations.

Responsibilities

  • Define success metrics for ML products before development, using metric trees, evaluation criteria and guardrails agreed with Product Owners, Data Science teams and business stakeholders
  • Design evaluation strategies for cases where the target cannot be measured directly, splitting models into testable parts and building simulation benchmarks and structural consistency checks
  • Partner with the Product Owner on product direction, turning Data Science results into business implications and business questions into well-defined analytical problems
  • Convert stakeholder feedback into structured evidence using review criteria agreed in advance, comparisons, and systematic tracking of manual overrides
  • Shorten time to market by testing ideas early with baselines, rapid prototypes and offline evaluation, so launch decisions rest on available evidence
  • Build self-service and AI-assisted analytics so recurring business questions get answered without ad hoc requests, help set evaluation standards across product teams, and share your methods with colleagues

Requirements

  • A graduate qualification at master's level or above in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
  • Solid statistical grounding and an analytical mindset, with a good sense for metrics that capture what matters even when the ideal measure is missing
  • Frame problems as decisions and outcomes, rank work by impact, and push back when a request addresses a different question
  • Explain model behaviour, uncertainty and trade-offs to non-technical audiences, and defend a position based on evidence when results are challenged
  • Use AI tools to prototype, automate analysis and build evaluation workflows, and help the team adopt them
  • Nice to have: Python and SQL, including simulations and reusable evaluation pipelines
  • Nice to have: understanding of how optimisation outputs such as shadow prices guide operational decisions, ideally from revenue management or pricing
