Senior Platform Engineer

The product runs continuously and follows policy rules, giving banks and fintechs insight into business verification.

The company is early stage and growing fast. Its team of engineers, product owners and operators works across London and Porto.

In this role you will build and run the infrastructure behind the company's distributed systems, where automation, reliability, developer experience and security meet. Your work lets product teams release quickly, safely and at scale.

You will design the internal foundations engineers rely on, and own reliability, observability and security on a real-time platform used by regulated financial institutions. The problems are hard and have real-world impact.

Responsibilities

• Run and improve CI/CD pipelines so releases carry less risk and friction
• Build internal developer platforms that offer self-service deployment, testing and observability
• Automate manual operational work to cut toil and speed up recovery after failures
• Set, track and refine SLIs and SLOs for the distributed systems
• Take a turn on on-call, lead incident response and hold blameless post-mortems that drive lasting reliability fixes
• Spot reliability, scaling and performance risks early and lead work to strengthen resilience
• Take responsibility for the security of the cloud infrastructure and the delivery pipeline
• Manage and optimise the company's GCP estate, including GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery and more
• Maintain and tune Elasticsearch clusters that support search and indexing
• Set up and tune Cloudflare for edge speed, security and uptime
• Reduce cloud spend while keeping performance and reliability intact
• Work closely with product and engineering on platform needs and roadmap decisions

Requirements

• 5+ years as a Platform Engineer, SRE, or senior or staff software engineer running production environments
• Hands-on experience with GCP or comparable cloud platforms
• Deep Kubernetes experience, GKE preferred, plus Terraform and infrastructure as code
• Proven record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, Cloud Build or ArgoCD
• Hands-on cloud security work covering IAM, secrets management and vulnerability management
• Solid grasp of observability: metrics, logging, tracing and alerting, for example with OpenTelemetry
• Comfortable taking on-call duty and leading incidents in high-availability systems
• Strong communicator with a collaborative, low-ego approach
• Able to work independently in fast-moving, ambiguous settings
• Bonus: Experience operating and tuning Elasticsearch clusters in production
• Bonus: Experience working in regulated or security-sensitive environments
• Bonus: Experience implementing SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls
