Description

This role is for an experienced project controls professional working on defence projects. You will set the processes, templates and tools, agree the cost and schedule baseline, and track performance against it.

The company helps major global clients deliver ambitious, highly technical projects from more than 110 offices worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the processes, templates and tools for project controls, agree the cost and schedule baseline, and track performance against it while managing risk, opportunities and change under controls.
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations from the baseline using lead and lag indicators, and recommend corrective action that delivers the best value for the client.
  • Lead the assessment of time, cost and quality targets, applying governance controls where needed to deliver the project.
  • Work with a remote team of cost managers to reach a market-tested cost baseline that gives the client value for money.
  • Guide and push the general contractor to stay on schedule and within agreed cash flow limits.
  • Act as the client's main contact, resolving delivery and commercial issues and producing formal and ad hoc reports on time, cost and quality.
  • Control costs using conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, basic contingency principles and procurement principles.
  • Build or work within a cost report that summarises finances on an executive dashboard.
  • Lead the agreed change management process and workflow, providing a way to add, track, monitor and approve changes.
  • Run planning sessions and workshops with clients and vendors to build the master programme schedule, agree baselines and define the critical path.
  • Gather vendor and client lead times into the master schedule and communicate the order priorities for materials and equipment needed to meet install dates.
  • Work with the client to define vendor schedule requirements.
  • Take part in project risk evaluations and feed the defined risks into Monte Carlo analysis to quantify impacts on cost and schedule.
  • Keep up to date on project change status with the team, share changes, and support approvals through the change management process.
  • Hold vendors to their schedule update and reporting duties so the master schedule stays timely, accurate and meets process and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Proven project controls experience across all project lifecycle phases, including programme, risk and reporting.
  • Experience in the life sciences or data centre sector.
  • Ability to decide on corrective actions or recommendations from facts and figures, critically assessing data from varied sources.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office and Primavera P6.
  • A commitment to excellent service.
  • Reliable, able to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management and quick thinking, meeting project deadlines when needed.
  • Self-motivated and driven to deliver for clients, working independently.

Conditions

The company never charges candidates any fee in its recruitment process, and no agency working with it may do so.

Benefits

  • A flexible working environment that supports work-life balance and a healthy, productive way of working.
