Description

The closing date for applications is 20 Nov 2026.

This is a Principal Software Engineer role for the Endoscopy OU, where you will develop medical device software.

The company is a healthcare technology business with staff in more than 150 countries.

The role sits in the technical specialist career stream as an individual contributor who advances existing technology or brings in new technology and therapies.

You will formulate, deliver and manage assigned projects, working with stakeholders to reach the intended results, and you may mentor colleagues or direct the work of more junior professionals.

Most of your time goes to R&D, systems or initiatives on new technologies or therapies, from design through implementation, within company policy and using specialist skills.

You will work with considerable independence as a recognised expert on large projects or processes, deciding the deliverables with limited oversight from your manager.

You will help set the direction for new products, processes, standards or operational plans based on business strategy, with significant influence on your work group.

The problems you face are difficult and not fully defined, so you will gather and analyse detailed information, then design and implement solutions.

You will be the main contact for specific projects and talk with internal and external customers and vendors at many levels, negotiating where needed and influencing decisions.

You will coach, train and guide others in your area and lead major or moderately complex projects, sometimes acting as team lead.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain new and existing medical products, including desktop applications and utilities in C++, Qt and QML.
  • Write, review, debug and test code.

  • Apply your experience and education to produce high quality, maintainable software that follows established design and architecture patterns.
  • Run application development using Agile methods.
  • Plan your own work, coordinate with others and keep your assignments on track.
  • Give engineering support to every department across business software systems and utilities.
  • Run medical application support using Agile methods such as Scrum.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and in speech with other team members.
  • Take on other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience developing desktop applications in C++, Qt and QML.
  • Experience in the medical device industry or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with security and risk analysis.
  • Experience designing and building graphical user interface applications.
  • Either a bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of relevant experience, a master's degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • A non-US bachelor's degree must meet the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).

Conditions

U.S. work authorization sponsorship (H-1B, TN, J, etc.) is offered for this Principal-level role, because roles below Principal require unrestricted U.S. work authorization at hire and for the whole period of employment.

The role is primarily independent computer and office work, so you must be able to move around independently, use a computer and communicate with colleagues, and reasonable accommodations are available for people with disabilities.

Ask your manager or local HR about the work conditions and physical requirements for this role.

The duties listed are a general description of the level of work and not a complete list.
