Senior Java Developer

Description

The team builds and maintains internal tools and platforms that help engineers ship reliable software faster. The work centres on automating repetitive tasks, streamlining workflows and improving the developer experience.

This is a senior role on a team focused on developer productivity.

Responsibilities

• Build web applications and cloud services using Angular, Java, Spring and OpenShift.
• Create front end interfaces with Angular and React.
• Make applications reliable, scalable and easy to maintain.
• Lead research and design work on improvements to platform technology.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders.
• Apply sound agile development practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience building large, highly componentised enterprise applications with Java, Spring Framework and Docker containers.
• Experience designing cloud-ready applications and deployment pipelines on large-scale container platform clusters is a plus.
• Solid grasp of industry best practices, including design patterns, coding standards and modular design, and prototyping.
• Experience with SOA and REST-based microservices.
• Experience with Kafka.
• Experience with RDBMS and SQL/PLSQL.
• Experience writing tests with JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber and RestAssured.
• Understanding of the SDLC for both Agile and Waterfall methods.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as OpenTelemetry, Splunk and ELK.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Angular V8+, RxJs, TypeScript, SCSS and HTML5, including reactive programming concepts.
• Experience debugging, tuning and optimising UI components.
• Bachelor's degree or university degree, or equivalent experience.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.

Conditions

Full-time position.

Primary location salary range: $94,300.00 to $141,500.00.
