Description

The company is a leading global bank with about 200 million customer accounts and business in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions. It serves consumers, corporations, governments and institutions across consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, securities brokerage, transaction services and wealth management. Its core work is safeguarding assets, lending, making payments and giving clients access to capital markets.

This senior (C14) role is a Product Lead for AI Product Engineering in the Banking Technology group, based in New York. You will combine product leadership with hands-on technical depth.

The focus is capital management and lending tools that help finance professionals allocate capital, speed up commercial and retail lending, use AI agents in credit underwriting, find new lending opportunities and manage risk-weighted assets.

This is a product-first role rather than a traditional development job. You will set the vision, strategy and roadmap, and guide a cross-functional team building AI-powered applications that improve credit risk assessment, capital optimisation and client service.

Responsibilities

  • Set the AI product strategy for capital management and lending tools, using market trends, internal processes and the pain points of corporate bankers, product bankers and the capital management team. Priority areas include automated capital allocation, AI-driven risk-weighted asset optimisation, predictive default modelling and specialised lending AI agents.
  • Turn that strategy into a clear roadmap, with prioritised features, epics and user stories that the engineering team can deliver.
  • Lead a dedicated engineering team: mentor members, set modern engineering practices and build a culture of quality, quick iteration and continuous learning.
  • Act as the main link between business stakeholders, end users and developers. Explain technical ideas in plain terms and turn lending and capital adequacy needs into sound technical designs.
  • Build proofs of concept and prototypes yourself when needed to test ideas fast, such as LLM-based financial document parsing, automated covenant monitoring and real-time capital stress-testing tools.
  • Win buy-in and resources from senior leaders in Banking Technology, capital management and lending, and report progress, challenges and results across the organisation.
  • Make sure product and technical decisions meet the firm's standards for security, ethics and regulation, including Basel III and IV, Fair Lending rules, CCAR stress testing and internal model risk policies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience taking products from concept to launch, with a proven record in a product-centric or entrepreneurial role.
  • Experience blending product management (the what and why) with software engineering (the how), with a strong product mindset and deep technical skill.
  • Deep, applied AI and ML expertise for real business problems. Experience with NLP for document intelligence, predictive modelling or generative AI agents is highly desirable, especially in credit risk or financial modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of core banking and fintech, and in-depth understanding of capital management and lending: credit underwriting, loan lifecycle, RWA calculations, capital adequacy frameworks, and using AI for growth, opportunity identification and client service.
  • A track record of leading, mentoring and inspiring cross-functional teams in a fast-paced agile setting, and of influencing people without direct authority, including project management.
  • Excellent communication and relationship skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive decisions with senior leaders and varied stakeholders, including lending and capital management professionals and their leaders.
  • A solid base in software engineering principles and system design, and comfort discussing architecture and code with your team. The role is product-heavy, but technical depth is expected.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, computer science or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
