Senior Engineer, Network Performance

Description

The company builds and runs its network, and this role is for a senior engineer who will lead performance management and optimization across the Radio Access Network.

You will own end-to-end user experience, capacity and accessibility on LTE, VoLTE, 5G-NR (NSA and SA) and Voice over NR (VoNR) networks, working with Ericsson Management System tools (ENM, MOShell/AMOS), diagnostic traces and PM counters to keep network quality and service reliability high.

The team is looking for an analytical engineer with deep Ericsson RAN software and hardware expertise.

Responsibilities

• Lead radio tuning and optimization on Ericsson Baseband and Radio Units, including Massive MIMO, C-Band and mmWave sites, for LTE, 5G-NR (NSA and SA), VoLTE and VoNR.
• Monitor and improve Accessibility, Retainability, Mobility and Throughput KPIs by analysing Ericsson PM counters.
• Analyse end-to-end voice quality from UE Trace, Cell Trace and external probe data, and troubleshoot SIP signalling, RTP packet loss, jitter, MOS scores and EPS Fallback (EPSFB) performance.
• Parameterize and audit Ericsson feature states and system constants per spectrum layer, and validate Carrier Aggregation, Massive MIMO, EN-DC and Dual Connectivity.
• Monitor and optimize KPIs for 5G Fixed Wireless Access CPEs on Mid-Band (C-Band) and High-Band (mmWave).
• Use MOShell, AMOS and ENM CLI tools to run health checks, verify cell operational states, and run automated parameter audit and turn-up scripts.
• Find high-utilization sectors and cell-edge bottlenecks from counter data, and recommend carrier additions, power control changes, re-sectoring or hardware upgrades.
• Work with RF Planning, Operations and Core teams to resolve complex cross-domain issues.

Requirements

• Either a bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Hands-on experience with ENM, MOShell/AMOS and ENM scripting for bulk parameter changes and MO configuration.
• Working knowledge of 3GPP Rel 15, 16 and 17 architectures, beam management, Massive MIMO, SSB and CSI-RS configuration, EN-DC anchor relations, and 5G-SA and VoNR layer management.
• Hands-on experience decoding call traces (GPEH/UETR), diagnostic logs (QXDM, TEMS Investigation, Actix Analyzer, Wireshark), and analysing VoLTE and VoNR SIP call flows.
• Ability to analyse large counter datasets and trace logs with SQL, Python or visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
• Even better if you have one or more of the following: a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related field.
• Even better if you have one or more of the following: five or more years of hands-on RF engineering and network performance optimization, with at least 3 years directly on Ericsson LTE or 5G RAN equipment.
• Even better if you have one or more of the following: experience with third-party benchmarking analysis from RootMetrics, Ookla or Tutela.
• Even better if you have one or more of the following: advanced scripting in Python, Perl or Shell to automate MOShell tasks, parameter audits and KPI reporting.
• Even better if you have one or more of the following: experience with Ericsson Open RAN (O-RAN) solutions, RIC, and rApp or xApp performance integrations.

Conditions

This is a hybrid role with a set work location that includes working from home and at least three days per week in the office, as set by your manager.

You are responsible for following the hybrid work policy.

The scheduled work week is 40 hours.

The annual full-time base salary range for the listed location is $100,000.00 - $174,000.00, and the actual pay depends on location and confirmed job-related skills and experience.

This role is incentive based, so there is potential to earn more.

For part-time roles, pay and benefit eligibility are adjusted to your hours.
