Description

The role combines people management with hands-on engineering. You will lead people and also explain technical ideas to stakeholders across the business.

Working with product owners and business analysts, you share responsibility for the team's results and delivery, with innovation as a priority.

You will work in the CRM domain, picking up current technologies and helping set best practice.

The team is helping reshape the labour market so it works for everyone.

The company runs a job platform with over 20 brands in more than 30 countries and has over 3,000 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manage several engineering teams: coach people, plan their growth and career progression, staff teams appropriately, look after their wellbeing, and own delivery of their commitments.
  • Build strong engineering and innovation into every delivery iteration and the team roadmap, and grow the engineering culture across your team and domain in line with the organisation's strategy: rapid hypothesis testing, learning from failure, automation and a SecDevOps culture.
  • Make sure technical knowledge is shared within your team and with other teams and Associate Engineering Managers.
  • Spot barriers to innovation and plan to remove them through training, paying down technical debt or other means.
  • Occasionally get hands-on with the team on Salesforce (Apex classes, metadata API and so on), Salesforce CLI (SFDX), Visual Studio Code, Git, CI/CD and AWS.

Requirements

  • Lead people: manage others in line with organisational policy, adapting to each person's needs, with a focus on growth, engagement, ownership and belonging.
  • Communicate clearly with developers, product owners, stakeholders and the domain's support and leadership team.
  • Explain your reasoning simply to a diverse audience, stay open to different viewpoints and experiences, commit to your own growth and that of others, and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Focus on delivering value efficiently and iteratively, and take responsibility for meeting the team's commitments.
  • Technical knowledge of Salesforce (Apex classes, metadata API and so on) and Salesforce CLI (SFDX). Sales Cloud essential. Service Cloud desirable, Marketing Cloud desirable, CPQ Cloud desirable, Revenue Cloud desirable, Commerce Cloud desirable, Data Cloud desirable, Certina (FinancialForce) desirable.
  • Understanding of Visual Studio Code, Git, CI/CD and AWS Cloud. Understanding of AWS Cloud is essential, but hands-on experience with it is not necessary.
