This Senior Associate role is Senior Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering, in the Risk Intelligence organisation, on the Risk Intelligence Data Platforms (RIDP) product line.

The role is based in Nottingham, UK, within the reliability engineering team for critical data platform applications serving the EMEA region.

You will be responsible for the availability, scalability, performance and security of business-critical platforms in a complex, cloud-native environment.

You will work with product, engineering and business stakeholders to make technology decisions support organisational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Keep RIDP services running around the clock, monitoring uptime, performance and compliance across applications.
  • Define and maintain SLOs, SLIs and error budgets, and keep reliability scorecards current.

  • Lead the handling of critical incidents and problems, responding with the urgency each one needs.
  • Own service restoration, whether through a workaround or a permanent fix.
  • Take part in off-hours maintenance windows when needed to keep the application highly available.
  • Communicate with design engineering, client support, management and software development groups.
  • Write down policies and procedures when they are created or changed.
  • Keep administration and reports up to date, including contacts, technical diagrams and post-major-incident reviews.
  • Work with problem management to find recurring or high-impact incidents that need deeper analysis and lasting solutions.
  • Make automation the default approach to incident response, deployment, compliance and observability.
  • Build non-functional requirements and secure-by-design principles into delivery pipelines alongside product and engineering teams.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a team rotation.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in production operations, SRE or DevOps roles.
  • 2+ years of working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, ALB, RDS and CloudWatch Insights.
  • A solid grasp of SRE principles, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets and incident response.
  • Hands-on experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with observability platforms such as Datadog, BigPanda and OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience with identity platforms and/or fraud detection systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to influence technical and business audiences.
  • An analytical approach focused on measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Strategic thinking, a bias for action and a sense of accountability.
  • Stays calm and structured under pressure.
  • Enthusiasm for engineering excellence, automation and reliability.
  • Builds trust across teams and geographies and shares knowledge.
  • Commits to continuous learning.
