Description

This is an individual contributor role where you lead through deep expertise and influence across Engineering, not through formal authority.

You will sit between engineering practice, learning design and modern developer tooling, and you will need enough engineering credibility to challenge and improve solutions with sound technical judgement.

The purpose is to help engineers learn quickly, build their skills and develop lasting capability through practical, technically grounded learning that can be adopted widely. The focus is early-career talent and engineering new joiners, plus adjacent engineering talent pipelines where needed.

Career stage: Manager.

The company is a global financial markets infrastructure and data provider with 25,000 people across 65 countries.

Responsibilities

  • Research and design learning solutions based on business needs analysis, aligned with divisional and functional goals.
  • Lead the design, build and delivery of learning, choosing the right format for technical learners such as hands-on labs, coached practice or blended paths.
  • Turn complex technical ideas into clear, engaging learning without losing depth or accuracy.
  • Work with engineering leaders, internal subject matter experts and stakeholder groups so content reflects real engineering environments, current stacks and modern practice.
  • Keep up with change in cloud platforms, developer tooling, programming practices and AI-enabled development, and refresh content continuously.
  • Recommend and apply modern learning technology and creative approaches that make learning more engaging for engineers.
  • Use performance consulting to find capability needs and barriers covering skills, behaviours, ways of working and enablement constraints, then turn them into clear learning problem statements.
  • Link each need to engineering expectations such as career-stage standards, engineering principles and role outcomes, and use this to set priorities.
  • Set practical, measurable success signals for each intervention and adjust based on evidence of use and impact.
  • Monitor how well learning initiatives work and recommend corrective action where outcomes fall short.
  • Find gaps in evaluation standards and reporting within your scope and recommend fixes that support performance and growth.
  • Collect learner feedback and data, and use them to keep improving the programmes in scope.
  • Assess stakeholder requests for new learning and development solutions, issue guidance on standard practice and policy, and follow through on it.
  • Work with senior stakeholders to identify existing skills, learning needs and skills gaps, and make sure activities support divisional and functional goals.
  • Contribute to global learning design and development projects, or to phases of larger projects, keeping them tied to business needs.
  • Explain difficult material clearly by adjusting your style to each audience.
  • Provide performance coaching to individuals or teams where needed, to improve learning results and on-the-job application.
  • Use AI and automation to streamline learning design, delivery and operations, cutting manual work so more time goes to high-value tasks.

Requirements

  • Solid technical literacy and confidence on engineering topics, including cloud technologies and architectures, modern development stacks, developer experience and enablement, modern software delivery lifecycle and tooling, and AI tools and agents for developers.
  • Ability to lead credible technical discussions with engineers and subject matter experts: asking sharp questions, testing assumptions, and turning technical reality into effective learning design.
  • Strong learning design skills with a focus on learners and outcomes, suited to technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration, influencing through expertise and clarity rather than authority.
  • Strong evaluation habits: track effectiveness, use feedback loops, and recommend corrective action to improve outcomes and adoption.
  • Comfortable in ambiguous, fast-changing settings, adapting quickly as priorities and technology shift.
  • Clear communication and facilitation across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Practical interest in using AI to improve the speed, scale and quality of learning.
  • Typically, extensive experience in Learning and Development, Engineering Enablement, Technical Training or Developer Education, ideally in engineering-led environments where technical credibility matters.
  • Proven experience working with engineering leaders and subject matter experts to build learning that reflects real delivery environments and modern engineering practice.
  • Experience supporting early-career talent and/or large-scale onboarding and ramp-up programmes in complex organisations.
  • Comfort working in technical contexts is essential. Hands-on engineering experience is an advantage.
