Senior Reliability Engineer - Veza

The company is building its next-generation identity security platform for multi-cloud environments.

This senior reliability role leads infrastructure work across the organization. You will work alongside builders from large technology companies, including Google, Okta, AWS, and Snowflake.

Responsibilities

• Lead reliability and infrastructure projects that span several teams, working with a high degree of independence.
• Solve unclear problems and deliver solutions on short deadlines.
• Design and deploy solutions for Cloud Prem and SaaS customers at scale.
• Set SRE best practices across the organization and push new technical ideas forward.
• Handle critical incidents, run root cause analysis, and put lasting fixes in place.
• Build automation that reduces manual operational work.
• Take part in the on-call rotation and keep incident handoffs and records clear.
• Lead compliance-related infrastructure work and coordinate with Security on control rollout across cloud environments.
• Align reliability goals with business goals alongside Engineering, Product, and Customer Success.
• Explain complex technical topics to technical staff, non-technical staff, and executives.
• Shape technical decisions across teams and build agreement on new tools, processes, and patterns.
• Provide tier 2 and tier 3 support to enterprise customers on complex issues.
• Work with customer technical teams on deployment, configuration, and integration problems.
• Run technical onboarding and advise on platform architecture and best practices.
• Write customer-facing documentation, troubleshooting guides, and run-books.
• Lead customer calls and technical discussions as a trusted advisor.
• Coach SRE and engineering colleagues to grow their technical skills.
• Encourage a culture centered on reliability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• BS degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
• A record of leading large cross-team infrastructure projects from design through production.
• Experience working independently on unclear projects with short deadlines.
• Hands-on work with major compliance frameworks (SOC 1/2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP Moderate/High), including automating controls and collecting continuous audit evidence.
• 5+ years with AWS services such as VPC, EC2, RDS, EKS, and CloudFormation, plus cloud automation.
• Expert-level skills in Kubernetes, Helm, Linux, and Terraform.
• Solid experience with GitOps, distributed version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and DataDog.
• Strong scripting in Python, Go, and Bash for automation and reading code.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and reliability patterns.
• Bazel and CueLang are a plus.
• Experience with compliance-as-code and automated compliance scanning and remediation.
• Ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly to varied audiences.
• Record of driving technical change across organizational boundaries.
• Record of delivering several complex projects on tight deadlines.
• Strong customer service mindset, with patience and empathy.
• Comfortable working without perfect information and still moving work forward.
• Hands-on, can-do attitude with a bias for action.

Conditions

US citizenship is required. The role requires or may require a federal security clearance.

Base pay is $114,700 to $195,000, a guideline that varies with qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

Pay depends on the geographic location of the role and may change based on work location.

Work model is flexible, remote, or required in office, assigned by the nature of the work and work location.

To confirm work model eligibility, the company may use a third-party service to measure the distance from your primary residence to the nearest office.
