Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) – Application Observability & Readiness (Azure)

You need 5+ years in site reliability engineering, cloud operations, or a related role. A mandatory minimum of 1 year of hands-on work with DBT, Databricks, and SQL is required.

Responsibilities

• Work with development teams to design and build monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and APM instrumentation for applications and services.
• Lead the setup, configuration, and tuning of application performance monitoring tools.
• Apply observability practice using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, New Relic, and Log Analytics with KQL.
• Add code-level instrumentation, distributed tracing, and structured logging to make applications easier to see into and more reliable.
• Build and maintain application monitoring dashboards and operational health metrics.
• Define SLIs and SLOs, and set up alerts based on latency, error rates, traffic, and resource saturation.
• Refine monitoring and alerting using what production shows and what incidents teach.
• Take part in production readiness reviews to find operational risks, observability gaps, and likely failure cases before release.
• Support incident analysis and follow-up work by improving telemetry and monitoring.
• Work with engineering teams so applications are reliable, scalable, and ready for production.

Requirements

• Solid experience running applications on Microsoft Azure IaaS.
• Hands-on work with application observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with DBT, Databricks, and SQL.
• Experience setting up and running APM tools such as Application Insights, New Relic, or similar.
• Experience building dashboards and monitoring with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics with KQL.
• Familiarity with CI/CD on Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Good understanding of cloud-native architectures and distributed systems.
• A practical SRE approach, including incident analysis, root cause investigation, and preventing problems before they happen.
• Strong spoken and written English for working with global teams.
• Preferred: scripting and automation in PowerShell and/or Bash.
• Preferred: knowledge of scalability, availability, and resilience patterns in modern cloud environments.
• Preferred: experience leading production readiness and operational excellence work.
• Preferred: exposure to reliability engineering practice in large enterprise environments.
