Description

This is an experienced-level, full-time role in the Engineering Group, reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of a larger parent company. It builds MANET radios and mesh networking systems for mission-critical communications on the ground, in the air and at sea.

Its radios and proprietary waveform carry communications for defense, law enforcement and public safety agencies worldwide, often in harsh operating conditions.

You will work across the whole system, including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption and security features, and advanced research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Primary: write fast, low-latency embedded firmware for ARM-based SoCs such as UltraScale+, and tune Linux networking stacks for wireless use.
  • Secondary: build the software side of MAC and mobile ad-hoc routing protocols.
  • Additional: write test software that measures product performance and reliability.
  • Additional: carry out other related work of the kind the duties above describe.
  • Management may assign or change duties at any time.
  • Travel requirement: none.

Requirements

  • Required: a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related engineering discipline.
  • Required: 5+ years building embedded software.
  • Required: C expertise and hands-on work with Linux kernel drivers.
  • Required: you must be a U.S. Person, because the company works on U.S. federal contracts.
  • Preferred: knowledge of security protocols and encryption algorithms, such as the CNSA suite.
  • Preferred: socket programming and familiarity with Internet and Ethernet protocols.
  • Preferred: understanding of the MAC and networking layers of a communication system.
  • Preferred: BSP support package development for AMD UltraScale+ MPSoC and Microchip PolarFire SoC.
  • Preferred: deep understanding of IPsec, network protocols, data authentication and encryption.
  • Preferred: Linux interrupt service routine development.

Conditions

Full-time, based at the company's headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA.

Hybrid schedule: at least 3 days onsite per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Office environment, with occasional exposure to heat, cold and allergens during field tests or demonstrations.

Physical demands: lift equipment up to 20 lbs for demonstration and test setup, bend and reach to shelves at any height, kneel or squat for low shelves, and walk around the labs.

Travel: under 10%.

Relocation is provided, and the role is domestic.

The pay range is not a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and the actual offer depends on the individual's knowledge, skills and experience.

As a U.S. Federal Contractor, the company requires every candidate to be a U.S. Person, either a permanent resident or a citizen; stricter U.S. citizen only rules apply to some roles and are listed in the required qualifications, and this does not apply to international roles.

The company is committed to an inclusive, accessible hiring process and will make accommodations on request.
