Senior Embedded Software Developer

The team builds software for networking platforms and works alongside hardware and firmware engineers. The job sits in Engineering at level TCP04, with a networking focus.

The position is onsite and you are expected to work mainly from a company office.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain embedded software for Linux-based systems.
• Write high-performance software in C, C++ and Python for networking platforms.
• Work on embedded Linux, RTOS and driver development.
• Bring up systems and integrate software with hardware teams.
• Find and fix faults, and improve speed and reliability of the software.
• Take part in code reviews, testing and software design discussions.

Requirements

• Solid experience in embedded software development.
• Strong skills in C and C++.
• A good grasp of embedded systems architecture.
• Intermediate Python.
• Deep knowledge of Layer 2 protocols such as VLAN, 802.1x and LAG, plus Ethernet switching in the data path.
• Preferred: knowledge of networking protocols.
• An asset: MACsec experience.
• Preferred: a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, electronics, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Highly desirable: experience building embedded software for networking products.
• Core skills: embedded software development, embedded Linux, C, C++, drivers and RTOS.
• Good to have: Python, Ethernet, MACsec and Linux system programming.

Conditions

Onsite role, with work mainly from a company office.

Base salary of CAD 114,300 to 164,300 per year in Ontario, Canada.

The final offer may fall outside this range depending on location, experience, education and skill level.

Variable incentives may also be offered on top of base salary.
