Senior Database Administrator

Description

The team runs a growing custom geospatial database environment that supports intelligence organizations.

This full-time, regular role covers creating and managing database objects, constraints, dependencies and relationships, in both standard and large object storage, and working out solutions to new requirements.

You will also help design and connect several ESRI, ARCGIS and messaging applications into one central database setup.

Responsibilities

• You need a solid grasp of geospatial schema object management, data modeling and architecture.
• You will advise the software development team and help the application support team at each stage of the software development lifecycle, from staging through production.
• You will build, test and troubleshoot triggers, views, stored procedures and data integrity constraints, and find and fix database problems.
• Your work spans analysis, design, construction, testing and rollout of solutions, with expert knowledge of SQL and/or PostgreSQL.
• You will communicate clearly, including in technical writing, and work well within a collaborative team.
• You keep learning, stay detail oriented, and finish assigned tasks on schedule.
• You bring strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including resolving technical and project issues, proposing creative process improvements, and understanding what users need.

Requirements

• Hold a TS/SCI clearance.
• Have 8 years of progressive experience performing complex analysis, design, development and modification that improves the efficiency of Microsoft SQL and/or PostgreSQL databases supporting enterprise architecture.
• Have advanced skills in planning, developing, implementing and maintaining enterprise-level systems.
• Be highly skilled at administering and deploying open source and commercial off the shelf (COTS) GIS server equipment for intelligence organizations.
• Communicate well orally and in writing, and be able to direct subordinates.
• Have expert ability to manage static and dynamic streaming geospatial data.
• Obtain and keep certification at the appropriate level under DODD 8570.01.
• Desired: a bachelor's degree plus three more years of general experience in database administration, intelligence systems architecture or geospatial systems, which is highly desirable.
• Desired: Network+ and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).

Conditions

Full-time, regular position.

Travel is up to 10%, outside the continental US.

A minimum TS/SCI clearance is needed to start.

Final salary depends on factors such as location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, prior relevant experience, specific skills, education and certifications.

The proposed salary range is between $85,800 and $180,200.
