Senior Data Scientist

Description

The company is a startup based in Boston with R&D in Tel Aviv. It builds an ML platform that helps drug sponsors design and run adaptive clinical trials, and it works with seven of the top pharmaceutical companies as well as several CROs and biotechs.

The team is made up of researchers. The role focuses on machine learning with an interest in causal inference, and you would work directly with clients. The company is growing and the role gives you room to act on your own judgment.

Recent preprints from the team include Causal Responder Detection and Robust CATE Estimation Using Novel Ensemble Methods.

Responsibilities

• Build and tune machine learning algorithms, mainly causal ML for clinical trials.
• Help senior data scientists build and improve the analytical platform.
• Work with clinical and biological experts to turn their problems into technical solutions.
• Run rigorous statistical analyses on randomized and observational data.
• Create and test methods for identifying responders and estimating treatment effects.
• Write up and present methods and results to internal and external audiences.
• Work with engineering, product, and business development teams.
• Take part in technical discussions and peer code reviews.
• Help prepare technical documentation and research papers.

Requirements

• A master's degree in computer science, statistics, data science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data science or machine learning.
• Practical experience applying ML in research or industry.
• A background in statistical modelling and analysis.
• Experience working in biotechnology or life sciences.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis and machine learning.
• Experience with data visualization and explaining technical ideas.
• Clear communication of results.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Preferred: a PhD, R programming, familiarity with causal inference, and experience with large-scale data processing.

Conditions

A PhD is an advantage but not required.

R is an advantage alongside Python.
