Description

The company runs an API site in Ringaskiddy, Cork, which serves as the global site for new small molecule API products from scale-up through launch and manufactures large-volume patented and off-patent medicines. The company is moving its data, modelling and automation work forward to speed up drug discovery and development.

This graduate role sits in the Innovation and Launch Sciences function at Ringaskiddy and helps shape the site's Digital Transformation Programme. You will report to the Data Science Team Lead, deliver the site's Data Science and Manufacturing Intelligence strategy, lead and take part in data science and analytics projects, and find and help implement continuous improvement opportunities across site departments.

The graduate programme lasts two years and starts with a one-year induction. Many former graduates from this site have gone on to build careers at both the local and global level. You will get structured mentoring and coaching, with objectives set during each assignment, along with management training and a six-module CPD professional training programme. You will also attend and present at senior executive meetings, including communications meetings, cross-site teams and leadership team meetings, and support cost improvement and data science projects for key API manufacturing processes.

  • Give high-quality data science support to find and carry out continuous improvement opportunities that raise site performance.
  • Work with process-centred teams and key site stakeholders to understand business needs and apply modelling to improve effectiveness, efficiency and decision-making.
  • Train users on analytics tools and support them on continuous improvement projects to build onsite capability.
  • Develop and maintain the data aggregation platform (Tibco Statistica Informa) for process control and data analysis.
  • Act as subject matter expert for local data viewers and consumers.
  • Provide data science support during investigations, new process introductions and change implementations.
  • Carry out routine statistical work to keep products compliant with cGMP expectations, including Continued Process Verification and APQR.
  • Keep up with Industry 4.0 trends and developments in AI and ML.

Requirements

  • Be completing or have just completed an honours degree or MSc in Mathematical Science, Data Science or Data Analytics.
  • Have strong experience with statistical tools, analytical methods and programming languages such as Visual Basic, object-oriented programming, SQL, R and Python.
  • Have strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, and make timely decisions.
  • Be willing to learn and to be challenged.
  • Preferred: understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and familiarity with GMP regulations would be an advantage.
  • Preferred: knowledge of application user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design and development.
  • Preferred: understanding of the concepts and tools of Lean and Six Sigma.
