Description

The role is a current vacancy open for applications, in a corporate function of an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma company.

The company develops medicines and vaccines, with a deep focus on the immune system, and uses AI across its work.

You would join a team that applies data science and AI to analytics projects, from early experiments through to production models.

Responsibilities

  • Apply data science methods in machine learning, statistics, text mining and NLP, forecasting and optimization across several analytics projects.
  • Build models, algorithms, simulations and experiments by writing highly optimized code and using current machine learning technologies.
  • Take work end to end, from running ML experiments to delivering production-ready models.
  • Use data analysis, visualization, storytelling and data technologies to scope, define and deliver AI-based data products.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers and MLOps staff to deliver AI and ML solutions.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building AI/ML models on complex datasets, with a solid grasp of the theory behind them.
  • Expertise in most of the following: supervised learning, unsupervised learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, federated learning, time series forecasting, Bayesian statistics and optimization.
  • Experience writing deployable code and putting models into product development in an agile setting.
  • Comfort working in cloud and high-performance computing environments such as AWS, GCP, Databricks or Apache Spark.
  • Experience developing production-ready software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, business analysis, data visualization and data storytelling skills.
  • A track record of working well in a team and across functions.
  • You have deployed AI/ML solutions using state-of-the-art algorithms and robust lifecycle management, and you spot opportunities to improve.
  • Expertise in core data science languages such as Python, R or Scala, and familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with disciplined AI/ML development practices, including CI/CD and orchestration.
  • Knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, Plotly or similar tools.
  • Experience with enterprise-level application programming interfaces (APIs).
  • Nice to have: experience in life sciences or healthcare, and in a complex global organization.
  • A bachelor's degree is required. A master's degree in mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, statistics, economics or a related quantitative field with strong coding skills is preferred.
  • At least 4 years of analytical experience is required.

Conditions

The role is based in Toronto, ON, on a hybrid model with 3 days per week onsite, which is required.

Open to applicants in North America only.
