Senior Cybersecurity Systems Software Engineer

The company is a global edge-to-cloud business that helps customers connect, protect and analyze their data and applications, from the edge to the cloud.

This senior role sits in the Block Storage portfolio and leads cybersecurity software development and compliance work.

You will drive cybersecurity activity, build new product security features, assess emerging security technologies and fix product vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and build cybersecurity architecture and solutions for Block Storage products.
• Build software features that match the business roadmap and the product's compliance needs.
• Take part in certification and compliance efforts, creating the product fixes and remediations needed to earn those certifications.
• Assess, recommend and add new cybersecurity technologies that serve the technology roadmap and business priorities.
• Review cybersecurity designs and project work for adherence to standards and best practices, and shape them where needed.
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, encouraging new security ideas, good practice and career growth.
• Build defense-in-depth measures and reduce vulnerabilities.
• Build cybersecurity expertise across the team and advise management on decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
• Typically 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering and software development.
• Deep knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, standards and compliance.
• A proven record of creating, building and deploying cybersecurity solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at management level.
• Strong experience architecting, designing and implementing cybersecurity solutions and software systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a security-first way of thinking.
• Experience assessing and integrating scalable cybersecurity solutions across multiple platforms.
• Ability to lead on technical cybersecurity matters and help raise the bar on security.
• Preferred: knowledge of cybersecurity industry standards.
• Preferred: software development experience in C, Go or Linux.
• Preferred: expertise in control frameworks and certifications such as NIST SP 800-53, DISA SRG/STIG and Common Criteria.
• Preferred: knowledge of PQC, EU CRA, FIPS, TLS/SSH and the various cybersecurity domains.
• Preferred: an active cybersecurity certification, such as CISSP or CCSP.

Conditions

Hybrid role: on average 2 days per week in an HPE office.

Based in the United States.

Annual base salary: USD 169,500 to 322,500 in Colorado; USD 183,000 to 348,000 in Massachusetts; USD 161,500 to 370,500 in North Carolina and Texas.

Actual offer may differ based on location, experience, education, training or skill level. Variable incentives may also be offered on top of base salary.
