The team is hiring a Senior Business Analyst for Fraud Risk Technology. You will turn high-level business and risk needs into detailed technology deliverables that engineers can build from.
You will be the main link between Fraud Operations, Compliance, Risk Management and Technology engineering. Your work will define, design and deliver fraud detection and mitigation tools, using modern analysis methods and enterprise AI tools, while keeping the customer experience smooth.
Responsibilities
Run stakeholder workshops with AI-assisted elicitation tools and enterprise collaboration software. Pull out business rules and settle unclear requirements and edge cases with subject matter experts.
Gather and document functional and non-functional requirements. Produce Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs) and technical specifications that follow industry standards.
Use analytical tools to find requirement patterns and map dependencies across distributed systems.
Build and maintain process artifacts: use case models, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, system context diagrams and Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0) workflows. Cover normal paths, fraud cases, false-positive handling, timeouts, vendor outages and dual-control approvals.
Specify technical and integration requirements for internal detection engines, third-party vendor platforms and core payment rails such as Card Authorization, ACH, Wire and Real-Time Payments (RTP).
Break business initiatives into Jira Epics and INVEST-compliant user stories. Write testable Gherkin (Given-When-Then) acceptance criteria for each persona.
Create and maintain an end-to-end Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) that links regulatory and policy mandates to BRDs, FRDs, user stories, test cases and compliance audit evidence.
Run backlog grooming and sprint planning in Jira. Make sure stories meet the Definition of Ready (DoR) and fit the engineering team's sprint capacity.
Fraud solution design: turn changing fraud types, such as Account Takeover (ATO), Authorized Push Payment (APP) fraud, Synthetic Identity Theft and mule account networks, into functional and technical specs for machine learning models and real-time rule engines.
Assess the impact of fraud policy and rule changes and run root-cause analyses. Balance higher fraud capture against customer friction and False Positive Rates (FPR).
Act as the technical contact across core banking engines, fraud decisioning platforms, case management workflows and identity verification and biometric APIs.
Define data mappings, JSON and XML schemas and API payloads for real-time transaction screening, event streaming such as Kafka, and batch monitoring.
Plan and run User Acceptance Testing (UAT), write detailed test scripts and manage defect triage to confirm fraud detection works and systems are reliable before release.
Measures: keep requirement specs clear and on schedule, with few defects or sprint rework. Reduce false-positive alerts while keeping or improving fraud capture and interception rates. Shorten the time from requirement to deployment for new fraud controls. Reach 100% adherence to internal risk governance and external regulations, with zero audit findings or compliance gaps.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Finance, Business Analytics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
6+ years of steady experience as an IT Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or Technical Product Owner, with 2 to 3 years in fraud detection, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) or payment risk at a financial services or FinTech firm.
Strong working knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe), hybrid delivery and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Hands-on experience with leading fraud detection and decisioning platforms.
Working proficiency in Jira, Confluence, diagramming tools such as Microsoft Visio and Enterprise Architect, and API testing tools such as Postman and Swagger.
Preferred: Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA).
Preferred: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO).
