Description

The company is hiring a Senior Brand Expression Designer based at its Cincinnati general offices.

The role centres on creating and carrying out strong consumer experiences for the company's brands. You will do hands-on design work and also guide and manage agency partners, so your own design skills need to be sharp.

The work moves quickly and is entrepreneurial. You will work with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality visuals and design adaptations that serve business goals and drive consumer engagement. Strengths expected: design mastery, sketching and rapid visualization, ideation, rendering, 2D and 3D prototyping, research and analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt designs so they match brand standards and meet the needs of specific markets. Turn consumer needs, brand identity traits and visual direction into functional, attractive, brand-consistent experiences.
  • Take part in consumer research and form a clear view of market and design trends, consumer behaviour and the competitive field, then use it to guide your multifunctional teams.
  • Carry out design work that builds and applies brand equity and visual identity consistently across programmes. Help explore new collections, propositions or sub-brands, keeping outputs on strategy, equity-building and suitable for the target age group while staying fresh and engaging.
  • Create fresh, compelling design solutions. Track cultural, visual and category trends and turn them into design implications that shape concepts and the evolution of the portfolio. Lead or support design evolution and extensions across initiatives.
  • Manage several initiatives at once and handle projects at different stages. Make sure visual storytelling, consistent equity and differentiated impact hold across the portfolio.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to keep design intent intact through execution. Communicate and collaborate well, fit into teams and help the group reach shared goals. Explain conceptual and directional design choices, present to leadership and influence senior leaders.

Requirements

  • A BA or BS in graphic design or a similar field.
  • 5+ years of full-time design work outside freelance work.
  • A portfolio showing mastery of design principles and brand identity, judged on creative excellence, storytelling, independent ideation, problem-solving and technical skill.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring designers in a fast-paced creative setting.
  • A strong grounding in brand expression and graphic design, and the ability to turn brand strategy into compelling design work.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects.
  • A portfolio demonstrating design mastery and design adaptation, judged on creative excellence, problem-solving and technical skill.
  • Working knowledge of the design process, design briefs, design CPS, package design, layout and digital design to build robust solutions.
  • Comfortable juggling several initiatives at once, open to feedback, keen to learn, and able to keep operational discipline and meet deadlines.
  • A clear communicator who can explain design intent and reasoning.
  • Curious about culture, trends and changing consumer needs. Keeps building design skill and brand knowledge, and is ready to take on more influence and ownership over time.
  • Strong project management skills, able to coordinate several projects and teams at the same time.
  • Strong communication skills, able to justify conceptual and directional choices, give and receive feedback, and present to leadership.
