Senior AWS DevOps Engineer

Description

The role supports improvements to delivery speed, efficiency and software quality. Development and operations share responsibility, with attention to people, process and tools, always keeping the customer and user in view.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team with Development, QA, IT Operations, InfoSec and UCD, all aiming to apply DevOps best practice.

Responsibilities

• Help implement and support changes that make delivery faster and software better.
• Turn business requirements into technical implementations by talking with stakeholders.
• Act as a business subject matter expert, understand what the business needs, and build that into an efficient DevOps team.
• Negotiate with and influence stakeholders so the service runs well and effort goes where it matters.
• Work extensively with DevOps tooling, containers and containerisation.

Requirements

• 5+ years working as a DevOps Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of AWS and of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code, plus Kubernetes and Helm.
• Experience in Java.
• Experience with several database ecosystems, their architecture and integration.
• Experience with monitoring tools to keep systems reliable and performing well.
• Experience with schema change management, for example Liquibase.
• Knowledge of GitOps principles.
• Experience in the public sector or central government is beneficial.
• Essentials: willingness to travel, the right to work in the UK, and the ability to obtain UK Security Clearance.
