Staff Platform Engineer - Cloud Platform (all genders)

Description

The company runs a commerce platform used by brands and retailers to build direct-to-consumer sales, and it is one of the fastest-growing enterprise platforms of its kind.

This role sits on the cloud platform team and supports internal application teams as well as the infrastructure itself.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and extend the global AWS infrastructure, managing it with Terraform and Terragrunt.
• Own the core Kubernetes platform components, including ingress, VPC networking, scaling approaches and secrets management.
• Build and run monitoring, alerting and logging with Datadog, OpenSearch and Fluentd.
• Advise internal application teams as an expert so they can ship microservices safely through GitLab CI.
• Take part in the on-call rotation to keep the platform running around the clock.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of dedicated platform or SRE experience in cloud environments, at Staff level.
• Deep understanding of AWS cloud architecture, with all changes made through Terraform and Terragrunt.
• Hands-on operational experience running production Docker and Kubernetes clusters at scale.
• Ability to read and write Go at a basic to intermediate level for scripting, debugging or platform tooling.
• Based in Hamburg, Germany, or living in Germany and willing to relocate to Hamburg.
