Description

The company makes large, well-known video games across many genres, including sports titles, strategy games and shooters, and works through several development studios.

The role is for a Build Systems Engineer on a team that runs game build pipelines in the cloud. You will move, support and tune standardized build environments that use Unreal Engine's Horde and Jenkins.

The main goal is moving existing build pipelines from on-premise servers to cloud infrastructure, keeping uptime high and getting clear performance gains over the legacy setup.

You will work daily with developers, platform engineers and DevOps/TechOps staff to keep production moving, roll out standard build configurations to several studios, and set up solid monitoring. You will balance daily support with longer-term improvements, building reusable automation, writing documentation and promoting CI best practices.

The company says its people drive its work and that it welcomes applicants of all backgrounds, and that people are encouraged to be themselves.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the move of studio build pipelines to cloud platforms, so that cloud services are at least as reliable and fast as the on-premise instances they replace.
  • Run and improve the existing Horde and Jenkins build systems, with a focus on stability and day-to-day performance.
  • Standardize Horde and Jenkins setups while still meeting the needs of different game teams.
  • Write build automation scripts and maintain reusable pipeline components.
  • Help connect related services, plugins and automation tools into CI/CD workflows.
  • Build and support monitoring that tracks build systems and cloud service performance.
  • Write clear documentation and share build automation and CI/CD practices with teams.
  • Work with Perforce specialists to keep source control integration reliable.
  • Give technical support, advice and troubleshooting help to development and build teams.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience running and maintaining production build systems for game development.
  • Hands-on experience moving build pipelines to AWS, Azure or GCP, while keeping uptime and performance high.
  • Hands-on experience applying CI/CD, Agile and DevOps methods in software or game development.
  • Skill in scripting and automation with Python, C or similar languages.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform and Ansible, to manage compute and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet, used to maintain build machines and services.
  • Solid troubleshooting skills on both Windows and Linux.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to find and fix build pipeline failures quickly.
  • Clear communication and teamwork with engineers, studios and external stakeholders.
  • Good documentation habits and a commitment to learning about CI/CD and cloud technology.
