Description

You would join a team with a multidisciplinary view of aircraft development, working closely with design offices, chief engineering, services, system suppliers, airworthiness authorities and, at times, operational customers.

The Aircraft Development Safety team in Getafe needs a system safety engineer to make sure products are designed, developed and supported to the safety standards tied to airworthiness rules.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out system safety assessments on military aircraft systems, supporting development through to certification.
  • Examine system functions in a systematic, thorough way to identify failure conditions and classify them by severity.
  • Set system safety requirements and run early checks that the proposed architecture can reasonably be expected to meet the safety objectives.
  • Produce evidence for the airworthiness authorities that the final system architecture meets the required system safety requirements.
  • Run common-cause analyses: particular risk analysis, zonal safety analysis and common mode analysis.
  • Carry out risk analyses under the applicable guidance and standards to show the platform's continued airworthiness.
  • Define and manage safety requirements at the interfaces with interacting systems.
  • Manage inputs and outputs with neighbouring technical areas such as processes, maintenance, human factors, aircraft performance, structures and quality.
  • Review, approve and apply supplier data on safety and reliability.
  • Cover every development level, from aircraft level down to detailed hardware and software requirements.

Requirements

  • Hold a master's degree in aeronautical or industrial engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Have a good understanding of aircraft systems.
  • Experience in system safety assessment would be an advantage. At a minimum, you need system engineering experience that interfaces with safety assessment, airworthiness or certification.
  • Advanced MS Office skills are expected.
  • Experience with safety tools, for example Isograph FaultTree+, will be valuable.
  • Good level of English.
  • Teamwork skills and a problem-solving mindset.
  • Stay alert to possible compliance risks and act with integrity, which the company sees as central to its success, reputation and long-term growth.

Conditions

Permanent contract at professional experience level.

Based in Getafe, with hybrid working where possible to support work-life balance and flexible arrangements.

Applications are welcome regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Benefits

  • Vacation days plus extra days off across the year.
  • Attractive salary.
  • Health insurance, employee stock options, a retirement plan and study grants.
  • Collective transport at some sites.
  • Free canteen, kindergarten and medical office on site.
  • Opportunities to join social and corporate responsibility initiatives.
  • Upskilling and strong development prospects in a multicultural environment.
  • Special rates on products and other benefits.
