Description

The company is a diversified trading firm that has operated for over 3 decades. It trades with its own capital and takes on its own risk, and it combines advanced technology with skilled people to trade in markets worldwide.

Headquartered in Chicago, with offices in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, the firm trades Fixed Income, ETFs, Equities, FX, Commodities, and Energy in all major global markets. It has also expanded into real estate, venture capital, and cryptoassets.

This role is a Risk Product Analyst position that works directly with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Quantitative Researchers across several trading desks and asset classes. It sits where trading, risk, and technology meet.

You will spot problems in the internal risk and valuation systems before they are reported, trace their causes into the back-end services and infrastructure they rely on, and fix them quickly.

The role is collaborative and busy. It calls for deep product and market knowledge, solid technical skills, and clear judgement when pressure is high.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the main contact for portfolio managers, traders, and quant researchers in rates, FX, commodities, equities, and crypto when risk or valuation issues arise.
  • Investigate and fix faults in the next-generation risk and valuation systems across every layer, including applications, APIs, databases, messaging systems, and the services beneath them.
  • Watch system and trading issues and rank incidents by how much they could affect trading, portfolio management, and P&L.
  • When you cannot fix a problem yourself, find the right engineering, quant, or infrastructure team and hand it over with a clear diagnosis that someone else can reproduce.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Management to find recurring faults and drive longer-term technology fixes.
  • Write Python tools and scripts that automate diagnostics, analyse data, and streamline workflows.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the firm's trading and risk infrastructure and how its systems and underlying services depend on one another.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of cash instruments, futures, swaps, and options, and of the markets they trade in, combined with strong technical skills.
  • Prior experience in trade support, trading technology, production support, or a closely related role in a live trading environment, ideally covering several desks or asset classes.
  • Working knowledge of Python and SQL to investigate issues, automate checks, and query and reconcile data across systems.
  • Familiarity with production diagnostic tools such as log aggregation, dashboards, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to narrowing down the source of a problem.
  • Clear communication with diverse audiences, including portfolio managers, traders, quant researchers, engineers, and product managers.
  • Ideally, you combine market and product knowledge with technical depth, have commercial awareness, and are comfortable working where trading meets technology.
  • You can take a vague report such as "my risk numbers look wrong", understand what the front office is trying to achieve, work through the relevant systems and services to find the failure, and either fix it or route it to the right team with a clear diagnosis.
  • Success here is not measured by how many support tickets you close. The role requires solving problems and building strong working relationships with the people who run the firm's trading strategies.

Conditions

The annual base salary is $175,000 to $250,000, set by experience, qualifications, and relevant skills.

The role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.

Benefits

  • Group medical, pharmacy, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401k with a discretionary employer match.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Life and AD&D insurance.
  • Health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.
