R&D IT Automation Engineer

Description

DevOps engineer role on the R&D IT automation platform team in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, at the company's High Tech Campus site.

You will help improve the team's CI/CD pipelines, test new tools, and look into AI approaches for automation.

Together with the team, you will shape the R&D automation platforms, aiming to give the R&D business unit a high-quality, self-service, fully automated platform.

You will be a key contributor to building and improving these platforms, with plenty of room to bring your own ideas.

The team splits its time roughly 80% development and 20% operations, so it keeps a steady focus on innovation.

You will work with a Scrum team of DevOps experts, and receive guidance on solution direction from the Product Owner, R&D business representatives and other stakeholders.

The platform runs on an AWS cloud-based architecture with cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines so that the latest changes get deployed quickly.
• Develop and maintain new platform components.
• Take part in every development phase, from problem analysis and design through implementation, testing and bug fixing.
• Act as the technical expert advising the organization on automation improvements, and help carry them out.
• Work effectively with developers, operations staff and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with DevOps implementations and operations.
• A solid DevOps mindset, with the ability to assess and improve DevOps processes and practices using Lean or Agile.
• Experience maintaining automation and configuration management with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab and AWS CodeDeploy.
• A good understanding of Linux, networking and server management, and experience with tools such as Ansible, Bash and Python.
• Comfort providing Windows automation through PowerShell.
• Curiosity and initiative in exploring AI to improve processes, automate routine tasks and boost productivity.
• A solution-oriented, hands-on and flexible approach to business needs.
• A customer-centric mindset, not an IT service provider mindset built around SLAs and silos.
• A belief in working together, both within the team and across the wider organization.
