Description

The company has two R&D sites in the Czech Republic, in Brno and Roznov p.R., and is hiring an embedded software developer for them.

The company works on secure connectivity for automotive, industrial and IoT, mobile, and communication infrastructure, with about 29,000 employees in more than 30 countries, more than 60 years of combined experience, and revenue of $8.61 billion in 2020.

The ROM team writes the first code that runs on a microcontroller: ROM embedded software that starts the system, configures the hardware, and locks down security. The team works closely with hardware, validation, and security teams from power-on to production.

The work covers next generation vehicles, smart homes and cities, future industry facilities, and communications, with focus areas including embedded software development and automotive functional safety.

Responsibilities

  • Help build high-quality software products that support the long-term product vision.
  • Help define clear requirements, design system architecture, and keep code and configurations well structured.
  • Work on your own while coordinating with other teams to plan, design, and deliver software that meets customer needs and improves product performance.
  • Develop ROM firmware in early stages, so it works before silicon is available.
  • Verify and debug in pre-silicon environments, aiming for full test coverage and reliable delivery.
  • Harden critical parts of the codebase so the ROM firmware stays secure and resists physical and logical threats.
  • Follow the required security frameworks, including EdgeLock requirements, and make sure work meets the relevant safety and security standards.

Requirements

  • Practical experience with C for embedded programming, and an interest in working close to the hardware.
  • A solid grasp of microcontroller architecture fundamentals.
  • An analytical approach and strong debugging skills for embedded targets and low-level software.
  • Familiarity with standard software development workflows, processes, and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of GIT or another version control tool.
  • Ability to communicate in English, in writing and speaking.
  • Optional: experience with ROM code or bootloader development.
  • Optional: experience with ASPICE or ISO 26262 automotive development standards.
  • Optional: experience with low-level drivers for ARM-based microcontrollers.
  • Optional: experience developing or testing embedded software for microcontrollers.
  • Optional: experience with real-time operating systems in embedded environments.
  • Optional: experience with scripting languages such as Python, and build tools such as make.
  • You combine a solid technical base with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset, and you take responsibility for your work, collaborate well, and keep improving your expertise.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving, especially with complex or low-level systems.
  • A structured, reliable way of working, with the ability to plan tasks, manage priorities, and meet commitments.
  • Clear, open communication that supports work with architects, senior engineers, and cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive, curious attitude, always looking for ways to improve solutions, processes, or product quality.
  • Ownership and accountability: you take initiative and see tasks through, even when challenges come up.
  • Team spirit: you share knowledge, ask questions when needed, and help build a positive engineering culture.

Conditions

Full-time position with a permanent contract.

Two offices, in Brno and Rožnov, each with an in-house cafeteria and a modern design.

Hiring starts with an online form and CV upload, followed by a short phone or video call with the technical team, and then a chance to talk with HR.

Applications must be in English, with a resume and motivation letter.

Candidates must hold a valid visa and work permit for the Czech Republic at the application stage.

The successful candidate may or will be responsible for security-related tasks, which may or will fall under security certifications, so a careful and reliable way of working is required.

Equal-opportunity statement: the company welcomes applications regardless of background.

Benefits

  • Market-based salary, reviewed each year, with a bonus plan paid twice a year.
  • Long-term incentive plan and dividend processing.
  • Option to buy company shares at a 15% discount.
  • Lunch allowance, extra vacation days, sick days and sickness support, and weekend bank holiday recovery days.
  • Pension and well-being support, flexible working hours, home office, and team-building events.
  • Mix of online and offline learning to build technical and soft skills.
  • Free coffee, fresh fruit days, social events such as Christmas parties and family days, and charity initiatives.
